Advice asap please - HFMD

Hey mamas. I need urgent advice please.

My sis in law is 17 years old. Last weekend she started getting blisters on the bottom of her feet, hands and around her mouth and inside her mouth. I suspect she has hand foot mouth but no one else believes me as she is “too old” to get that.

Anyway I managed to keep my almost 2 year old away from her since. But tomorrow is my birthday and she was supposed to come with my in laws. She’s messaged me today asking if she can still come as she really wants to come over and see us all. I’m not sure if she is still contagious? She said she still has a few blisters that are bumpy/filled but most are flat now.

Everyone else around me thinks I’m making a big deal out of nothing. My son had HFMD once before and it was absolute horror. I’m so traumatised that I don’t want him going through it away and he is already under the weather.

Do u think she can still come over tomorrow as it’s been almost a week since or should I tell her not to and how to tell her / everyone in a way they won’t judge me or take offence.

My little one had HFM a few months ago and the Dr told us that by the time the blisters have come out the window for contagion has passed, and the contagion window would have been in the 5 days prior to the blisters appearing.

I'm not a Dr but that's what he told us. We were in Spain and we had to get clearance to make our flight home, and he said it wouldn't be a problem as the contagion window is before the blisters appear, and he could see my little one already had blisters. Noone else in the family got it. Ultimately only you can make that decision though.

I work in nurseries and I have unfortunately had it 3 times as an adult (in my twenties) so she’s definitely not too old to get it. It really can vary from quite mild to very severe. It is most contagious in the lead up to and the first week of having symptoms. But sometimes can remain contagious for longer. At our nursery we ask for the child to remain off until all spots have fully dried and crusted over. Just because if one was to pop, we feel that the puss is likely to transfer and possibly spread the virus that way.

Breastfeeding in public! How to do it?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice on breastfeeding in public. At the moment, I can only comfortably breastfeed my baby at home using two pillows — one to support his body and another to support his head. He also doesn’t really like the cradle hold, and I’ve tried the koala position but it hasn’t worked for us so far.

I’d really like to be able to breastfeed when we’re out, but I’m struggling to find a position that works without all the pillow support. Has anyone been in a similar situation or found a position that worked well for their baby? I’d really appreciate any tips! ❤️

Circumcision after care

We circumcised our almost 2 week old boy for hygiene reasons yesterday. (Don’t come at me- his dad, my brothers are all circumcised and it’s not for religious reasons).
The surgical team recommended using Sudocreme over the widely-used Vaseline. Three mothers in my circle only used Vaseline. I am worried for the sudocreme, any one used this in the past?
Additionally, washing his privates with water at every nappy change seems too much. Anyone washed your boy after every two nappy changes, what are your experiences?

Bath toys!

Someone please help me out, my son has these animals and absolutely loves them but they started to go mouldy inside. What’s the best way to try and clean them out?

Loves to sleep

My 15 month old daughter loves her sleep she will still have 2 naps a day and sleep through the night from 6:30pm until 6am I'm not complaining as I get to get all the house cleaning done I need to do bit it can me stressful when you want to go out and do things as a family wirh your 5 year old but if you do and she misses her nap she is like a little hurricane 🤣 🤣 so most of the time it's me and her at home buy going to try to go put again next week and see how it goes anyone eles 15 month old still love to sleep or is it just mine

Nursery clothes

Anyone else feel that nursery’s don’t even attempt just a tiny bit to prevent mess on clothes? I know they’re bound to make mess and when I started my little one I got a load of second hand clothes I didn’t care about with this in mind. 8 weeks later and they’re so stained they’re destined for the bin. What’s the most frustrating is that he is only just turned 1 so it’s not mess from arts and crafts. It’s the general dirt on the floor and food which makes me question if they even put a bib on. Literally stains covering all his t shirts, shorts and socks🥴 like I said I knew it was bound to happen so made sure he never goes in wearing nice clothes but I still have to pay money for what he does wear and it’s frustrating how ridiculously filthy it gets!

First walking shoes

I’m having the biggest stress, my little girl started walking about a week or so ago. When does she need to go to get proper shoes?
I’m taking her to her first football match next Saturday, we aren’t taking the pram so she might walk a little bit if she’s more confident but I’ve been fully shut down by my MIL being told I’m just fussing over it. Does she need some proper walking shoes to go to the football or am I just fussing?
