Hi! I’m expecting my first baby with my fiancee. We’re both women, and used AI at home to conceive our child. Because we aren’t married, I know it might cause a lot of issues for my partner to be registered on the birth certificate, but if people have any advice or their own stories, I’d really appreciate it!
We will be married before our baby is here, and we’re in Scotland. Just praying it won’t be too complicated to get my partner on the babies birth certificate 🙈 TIA

I think you’ll have to put together a parental agreement and take that with you when registering the baby - or go down the adoption route sadly. You would need to have been married at the time of conception or used a licensed fertility clinic.

You have to be married bwfore conception unfortunitly. Your partnwr has to apply for paternal rights to have legal rights over both your baby .. as far as im aware x

I dont know the ins and outs but do know a couple who applied through the family courts and it was relatively straightforward. They didnt do it straight away and unfortunately separated but even so non-bio mum was given parental responsibility. Hopefully it will be easier if everyone is on same page!
