C Section!

Hey everyone! I’m due my 2nd in October and thinking about requesting to have an elective c-section this time. However, how does this work? Are you able to request a specific day or do they just give you one? I kinda want to wait till the end of my pregnancy if possible and don’t want to be given a date a full week early, maybe just a few days early?

Let me know your pros and cons if you had an elective section please, really undecided what to do 🙃

Hi, so they’ll probably give you an estimated day and then closet to the time they’ll give you a confirmed date. I booked mine the week before due date and they confirmed it would be 4 days from the day I booked it!
Pros of elective section : a non rushed and relaxed environment compared to an emergency one (my sis in law had an emergency one so I can compare here for you)
- I was smiling and giggling with my husband until they made the first incision (I saw the reflection in the lighting chrome overhead and the blood made me stop laughing, but had I not seen that I would’ve continued in la la land
- you can prepare! My mum had a blanket personalised with the baby’s date of birth on it which we took newborn photos of him in, so it was handy to know exactly when little one would be here
- prior to a planned section they give you some medication to take to reduce stomach acid and you aren’t supposed to eat the night before, so it all goes smoothly. Now if you have an emergency ….

It depends which hospital you're going to be under. With MFT, I selected a c section as little one was breech. I went in to go through options for delivery on the 3rd December, chose a section and then got a date literally 5 days before the section. I had to go in 3 days before for a pre op and to receive some information and medication.

I have nothing but good things to say about it. The only thing I found was I couldn't poo and wow when I did. It was like birthing a baby through my bumhole!!! 🤣🤣 so take some prune juice with you and drink it to help you go. My partner was extremely supportive and needed, and he helped me massively in the first few weeks. Move everyday, it will help with your recovery. By day 6 I was going stir crazy being in the house, so went for a short walk round the block. It was SLOW but it was nice to get some fresh air. The only con I have is the poo after the section, as my section and healing was great. Definitely make sure you have your support network around!!

Baby boy born 🩵

Hey ladies , I’ve had nearly 2 weeks of my boy now and I’ve realised I’ve not checked in on here at all . My boy was born 30th July at 3.44 weighing 6 pound 4 ! He was born 37+3 .

He had a tough start and came out extremely bruised , the doctors said they have never seen anything like it 🙈 but he’s all okay now and very content .

Thank you everyone for all your help and advice over the last 9 months .

I’m curious, what’s the WORST part about having a C-Section?

I’ve got 2 kids and never experienced a C-Section, so I’m generally curious and haven’t seen any posts about what the worst part is? I know lots of people will say the aftermath - leaving the hospital (not being able to move, dealing with incision pain, achy body etc) & thereafter but I’m more specifically asking about the hours before, during surgery and the hours after the C-Section and not necessarily the PP part of it. Would love to hear about it 🤍

Planned/ elective/ emergency C section recovery opinions?

Due a planned c section soon due to a severe tear in my last birth with lasting damage to my pelvic muscles.

How was your recovery? Really worried about coping with a toddler.

40+6 and still pregnant

This is my first baby, I am currently 40+6 and its really starting to get to me and just cant stay positive anymore.

I was really hoping for natural labour but I am starting to loose hope it will actually happen, and have been crying a lot for the past 2 days, as I just feel so defeated. She’s also measuring on 90th percentile and every extra day she’s there I worry that once it comes to it will be too much to handle, and my end up in emergency c-section.

I’ve got induction booked for Sunday (I’ll be 41+3) and part of me is relieved there is finally end date for this pregnancy, and part of me still wishes that the little one decides to surprise me by then, and even asking myself if I should give her even more time?

I guess this just a rant, as just needed to get it out there, and hopefully some can relate?

Finding out the gender???

Hey lovelies,

My partner wants to find the gender out but I don't want to. He won't be at the scan due to work. Would you find the gender out to please him or stick to your guns and not find out.

I want the surprise but I also don't want other people knowing even if I did find out... oh and he can't keep a secret (especially from his mum and she has a right big gob on her so everyone would know).
