Breast feeding with formula supplements

I'm looking for some advice. My partner and I agreed while I was pregnant that our son would be breastfed. We did a course on it and he was so blown away by the benefits for me and baby that he practically insisted I do it until he turns 2, which I'm fine with. Now he's here it seems a bit different. My partner has a son from a previous relationship who was exclusively bottle fed formula and he has told me he misses being able to feed the baby. Originally we were going to do one feed a day where I pumped so he coule give a bottle but we're both so crap at routine that the pump is never sterile and there's no milk and he hasn't pushed it. A few weeks ago I had to go to a&e and we didn't know how long I'd be gone so he bought some formula incase it was needed. It wasn't in the end, I had some collected from let downs etc that was enough until I got home. We've been experiencing what seems like supply issues but could just be purple crying/cluster feeding in the evenings and he seems so keen to get a formula bottle in there and seems almost offended that I want to follow the health visitors advice of offering the breast more to up my supply rather than giving up and going to formula. I very much have a velcro baby and its too hot for us to be out of the bedroom which is the only room with air-conditioning. As soon as we are he gets sweaty and irritable and I worry about dehydration. During the day I have maybe 1 hour when he goes down for a nap in his cot and I have to really pick and chose what I do - its normally feed myself and half a load of washing before he wakes up. I'm not going to prioritise cleaning pumps and bottles when the boobs are right there. Has anyone dealt with something similar? I don't want to upset him but I also don't want to compromise on what I think is best for our son.

If you want to breastfeed without formula then do that. Your baby is only little once and you should do it what you feel is best and what works for you and your baby.
I pumped for a while to get a supply in the freezer and now I’ve stopped. Pumping is a big commitment and it’s hard work so I completely understand where you’re coming from. If it helps you could join some breastfeeding groups? When I’d pump I’d refrigerate the parts and use for 24 hours to save mucking around. This does ruin the parts sooner though.
I’d say just stick with what you feel is best. I know some mums that have almost been tricked into using formula and then haven’t been able to breastfeed afterwards and it broke their hearts. Do what you want to do and do not let anyone else pressure you. If your baby is having plenty of wet nappies and his soft spot is okay then carry on. Try speak to people for advice that are unbiased too. Some people are very forceful and sanctimonious. I hope you find a happy medium x

Nursing bra help!

Does anyone know of any nursing bras available in the UK that have this option where you can open at the front, but it still leaves some material across the top part of your boobs so you are covered whilst feeding?

I bought one in my last pregnancy from Australia, but they have stopped doing it 😭

I have found the below, but it’s just a tank top so you can’t adjust the size at the back. And with how varied my boob size is during pregnancy, freshly postpartum, and as I went through breastfeeding, I really need an adjustable back!

I know some people say just have the confidence to feed, but I’m really after something that leaves me a bit covered as it gave me so much more confidence

She’ll bash toys with her hands she has facial expressions
She doesn’t respond to her name that well right now

A question for 2nd time mummies and beyond

My social circle is all 1st time mummies with children ranging up to two and we all put a lot of focus on naps. I feel very restricted because of to the expectations I’ve now built up. I was more chill on the nap front a couple of months ago but since she dropped to two naps I’m all “nap this. Nap that” and tbh it’s not my personality at all so missing a bit of myself. I want to do what’s good for her though.

Anyway, how do you do it? It can’t be simple? School runs or clashing naps or bedtime with a toddler. Or have you just let go and say “hey, they’re happy and clearly gets their sleep somewhere”

What would you say to me? - go with it and get out and enjoy life nap worry free? or would you say be grateful for the opportunity to focus on just her and get her naps in? Or a mix of the lot? Do your expectations of yourself and reality add up?

Pls help 🥹

Morning mamas! I’ve found this beautiful dress for an event that I really want to wear. However, I’m breastfeeding, and although the dress looks lovely without a bra, I’d really like to wear one for a bit more support. Does anyone have any suggestions for what type of bra I could wear with it? I’ll have my hair down, so that should cover the back anyway.

Mum Guilt

Hi 🫶🏻

Last night I snapped at my 16 month old daughter she was not settling or going to sleep I was exhausted and had work the next morning she eventually fell asleep at 12am she was fighting her sleep for ages. I just got so irritated and snappy I felt like I just had to put her down and leave the room cos of how mad I was getting. Is this normal.

As soon as she fell asleep I cried myself to sleep and I felt so awful for how I had reacted.
:( I still feel it this morning
