Non-english letters in names?
Currently pregnant and planning babies name, my husband and I are Irish but live in England and we want an Irish name. We think we have come to a decision but we are torn on whether to include the fada (accent) in her official name. I don't want to anglicise the name necessarily because the whole point is embracing the heritage, and if we spell the name using the English alphabet only it changes the pronunciation of the name. But at the same time I don't want to cause her problems for the rest of her life when it comes to entering her name on things that only allow the english alphabet or keyboard inputs and cause unnecessary confusion with important documents and things, for example if somewhere doesn't allow input of non english characters and then it causes a mismatch with her official documents?
Does anyone have any experience of spelling a name with non-english alphabets and whether it causes any problems in England later on in life?

Apparently, there shouldn't be any issues with registering non English names/letters with local council. I'm Polish, asked this very question when registering my little one, and the clerk said no issues whatsoever, either in the first or last name 😊
Just the names can be mispronounced, no other issues
My LO name is Gaja (phonetically Gaya), 99% of the time the name is mispronounced, and that's all I faced so far.
I know not having the fada changes the literal meaning of the name but in terms of keyboards/english alphabet only they’ll still be able to write their name - i.e. Roisin, Sean, Orla etc still look fundamentally the same😊
