Hey girls! After a couple of weeks of the occasional steps my little one seems to have woken up and decided she’s walking🤣
I know I should be keeping her barefoot as much as possible but I’m also aware I’ll need to take her to get her shoe size fitted soon too as I want her to be able to toddle wherever we go!
Questions:
- at what point did you take your little one to get fitted?
- has anyone got any first shoe recommendations? I keep getting ads for ‘duckies’ on instagram which are like rubber shoes. Would love to know thoughts on comfortable, practical baby shoes 🙏
Many thanks in advance xxx

I got my first baby’s shoes when he started cruising and then shortly after that he was walking. I’ve done the same with my second, but instead of getting measured up I bought her some Duckies. It’s good to keep them bare foot but it’s also good to try them with shoes every now and then so they get used to having them on.

I literally got my little boy measured at Clarks today and got him some little shoes! They were quite slender in the sole and on top so that they were as close to barefoot as I could get. I felt it was the right time because he had become confident enough at walking (and falling safely) that I would let him walk around on the grass, in the park and in shops when out and about, so wanted him to have some shoes to wear! We have also got him some duckies for his birthday but I got the size 16 month - 20 month in the duckies as he will likely be using shoes a lot more at that point, whereas the Clark’s ones are partly just to get him used to wearing shoes as well as being able to walk when out and about. We did get some Matalan chunky trainers a while ago but they were awful, way too clunky for him.
