RSV Vaccine

Could really use some advise! I had the RSV vaccine at 30 weeks pregnant and 2 days later went into premature labour despite a straightforward pregnancy prior and no clear signs as to what caused this.

I have now received an appointment for my baby to have the RSV vaccine. Am I right to be apprehensive given it is such a new vaccine? What is the the right thing to do 🙈

I am not usually one to question a vaccine and he will receive all of the other vaccines without question

It’s entirely up to you they just recommend it bcoz that’s there job my little girl is not having any vaccines that has been created after 2016 so anything from then or before then she is having as I don’t trust the new ones they havnt been out long enough to know every in and out in my opinion xx

I didn’t get offered the RSV vaccine as it was newly being rolled out to pregnant women when I was pregnant with my first.
He then got croup and we were in hospital for 2 days and on steroids.
Watching him unable to breathe and his chest work SO hard to try and get oxygen I will absolutely be getting it with this one. And getting my next baby the jab if available.

The rsv vaccine isn’t new, it’s been offered for years and years in other countries, it’s just we have it newly funded here now.

I did research myself as I was scared to have it during pregnancy but found lots of data to show it’s not new xx

It’s completely fair enough for you to be apprehensive and worry for your child, those emotions are so valid. I’d say be cautious of making permanent decisions (i.e not vaccinating her) off of temporary emotions. It’s also super common for our brain to create illusory correlations when things feel unexplainable (such as, the vaccine caused me to go into labour early). It’s our brains way of making sense of events or our fears.

I’d also say the vast majority of people don’t fully understand vaccinations, which is no one’s fault, but often results in people making decisions that are emotion based rather than scientific fact, even for ‘new’ vaccines. A vaccine being new doesn’t inherently make it dangerous or invalid. We make advancements in medical technology every day and we don’t question using new technology to save lives in other areas.

Again, I think your feelings are totally valid and having those worries tell me you’re already an amazing mum, but I’d also trust vaccines 💖

How to settle night wakings without feeding

My EBF baby responds very well to feeds overnight to fall straight back asleep after waking. I’m conscious this isn’t a long term solution and we need a way of settling him without feeding.

He won’t take a dummy, patting/ hand on chest/shushing etc in crib doesn’t settle him. If I get him out of his crib he’s still distressed and I have to walk around with him for a long time and often still end up needing to feed him to get him back to sleep.

It’s especially hard at night as i also need my sleep and it’s far easier and quicker to quick feed and back to sleep.

Any advice on how I can settle overnight without the feeds?

Grunting, straining, red faced… HELP

my little one is just over 3 weeks and honestly I think he spends every night from 3am onwards grunting, straining, stretching his legs out and passing wind until about 6am. The only way he will sleep is if he is on my tummy down as this seems to give him comfort but it’s hard for me to not fall asleep when this happens! We have taken him to the doctors and they said he’s just a baby basically🤷‍♀️ he poos fine, passes wind throughout the night all night, burps after every feed I just cannot work out why he does it! Please can I have some advice or at least someone who is in the same boat 😭😭

Car seat issues

Help!! My daughter screams badly EVERY time I put her in the car seat. It causes me so much aniexty to take her out, I feel so trapped at the moment as don’t want to take her out because of it. It’s like a bad scream to the point where she’s sweating due to getting so worked up. This panics me so I always pull over to calm her down and put her back in. Has anyone had anything similar and can offer some advice? Thanks so much x x

17 month old not walking

My son has just turned 17 months and still isn’t walking, he can crawl, pull himself up on things & cruise along furniture. He’s also able to take a few steps if we play a game of back & fourth but gives up quite quickly.

I think he may be double jointed, I’ve spent far too long on Google & im really concerned / starting to not sleep because of it.

Has anyone had any positive outcomes?
I feel like I’m not doing enough etc 😩
