Hello
Im due with my first baby in February and haven't done any reading yet on birth or having a newborn. If there were 2 or 3 books you could recommend I read what would they be?

Hi, i’m a first time mum too and just turnt 30, honestly I don’t think there is a guide on how to be the parenting. I’m sure we all wish there was. You get to know your child and that’s your rhythm.

I would recommend a class. Usually hospitals or other local groups will host either a multi week or one time class for parents to learn about the birth process and everything about pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Mine also had a separate lactation / breastfeeding class which was great.

The Your One-Year-Old book series that covers every age into the teens. My pediatrician referred the 4 Year old book to me and it helped me understand my son’s transition into the next age and what to expect. I wish I’d had started these from day one! Very informative and helpful when they are going through the “terrible twos” or defiant three-year old years. The authors are Louise Bates Ames and Frances L. Ilg.

And congrats! My son was a February baby, too!

I recommend this website, was really straightforward and helpful for me

Not for everyone of course, but I watched a bunch of birth vlogs on YouTube because I wanted more of a “show don’t tell” approach. (Literally just searched “UK birth vlog” and went to town lol.) Less about guidance but more about realistically what happens... it made me feel prepared for just about anything. Just an idea! 😊
