Am I being petty?
My MIL has planned a family event in February 2027.
Our baby is due in December 2027.
We have a two year old.
My husband said ‘FYI’ mum is getting me a ticket to go to wherever they are going is will be on whatever date in February 2027.
His brother, sister in law and all their kids are going.
Is it petty that I find that inconsiderate?
Apart from Christmas, it’s rare that we all get together as a family.
They have chosen to do something at a time when I’m going to be freshly post partum, didn’t even consult me and just told me FYI.
Like am I being petty?
I was just thinking isn’t it great that our daughter gets to miss out on catching up with the cousins and my husband has a willing, free and ready baby sitter (me) to stay at home with the kids who is freshly in post partum. Must be nice!

You're not being petty. It's super inconsiderate of her, but it's also wrong that your husband isn't putting his foot down. He should be the one telling his mom he won't be going, or making arrangements for you to come too. You shouldn't be an after thought, you should be his first thought.
If I’m 6-8 weeks postpartum and my husband wanted to go away I’d be like sure enjoy your vacation…WITH the toddler. AND he should buy a ticket for someone you love/care about to come visit (a mom, sister, friend, etc) and help you while they’re gone.
He expects you to be home alone with both kiddos? Absolutely not. He’s nuts. And your MIL is inconsiderate and a nutcase if she thinks leaving you alone with two kids shortly after you give birth is ok.
Inconsiderate to not include you. Also your husband likely won’t be able to attend either as you have 2 babies and will be freshly PO
