Hi Mamas. Anyone have babies with eczema? What’s working for you? How long did it take? I have a 4 month old boy and his cheeks are flaring up badly. We had an online consult with a paediatrician who recommended hydrocortisone ointment for 2 weeks. I wasn’t too keen on this option but we tried it once a day at night. It seemed to make his cheeks softer but didn’t really clear it up. We just had his 4 month paeds appointment and his paediatrician suggested that we stop using the hydrocortisone because she can see the discoloration in his skin. We’re now waiting on a dermatology appointment but something tells me a simple natural home remedy may do the trick.

A lot of options, homemade or bought, feature oatmeal which can be helpful. For our babe it wasn't, and after trying a few different things we finally saw a ton of improvement with the cerave baby moisturizing lotion and cream. Good luck!

Changing milk, I have a nearly 5 month old, and he had quite bad eczema but the thing that’s helped was changing milks I’ve changed it twice already so cow and gate and aptamil his skin was quite bad now he’s on Hipp organic milk and I’ve notice a massive difference! The cream that’s helping is the oilatum cream and bath oil

Look up queen bees natural baby balm for eczema, worked a dream for us, and like Iqra said speak to your pharmacist about milk and intake as dairy tends to cause a flare or worsening eczema x

The only thing that was for us is hydrocortisone cream before he went to sleep with Aquaphor on top once it had a minute to settle in. Once it was under control, we managed with the Aveeno Baby eczema therapy cream

Eczema as you may or may not know doesn’t “take a certain amount of time” you simply learn to control it and then deal with the flare ups as and when they arise.
I exclusively breastfed my first and now my second. I didn’t do any elimination diet as the dermatologist said it was pointless. We do use oat baths and have been a big fan of Droughts Secret products.

We use Aveeno Eczema Cream on my son’s cheeks after bath every night when they flare up and it usually clears it up straight away!
Have you eliminated dairy from your diet? Dairy can often be a huge trigger for eczema!
We also do oat baths which help. And then if worst comes to worse we use the medicated hydrocortisone cream for as short of period as we can to help take the edge off it!

We use babies Cetaphil lotion for eczema and non-scented body wash
Something else to add: With these remedies, is it normal to “get worse” before getting better? Someone once mentioned that the Mustela no rinse cleansing water helped with their baby’s eczema. I tried it once and it seemed to make my baby’s cheeks more red and started to bleed a bit. I took it that the product was too harsh for him. I’m not sure if I should have stuck it out longer.

My son has eczema and when he was a baby I would rub my breastmilk on it. I would freeze it in an old chapstick container and then rub it on and it would definitely help! To maintain it now (he’s almost 5) I use Cerave and it works great. Little to no flare ups 👍🏼
