How much did your child start talking during this time?
Mine is 19 months and can say all the basics like mama, dada, dog, cat, hat, cow, car, banana etc but she has been saying these since 13 months. So I am waiting on this explosion i read about. And her to start putting 2 words together.
Can anyone advise if this truly happens?

Yeah absolutely, yours sounds like she’s already ahead though, and you’ve got another 5 months in that ‘recommended’ development phase 🥲 mine could only say dada at 13 months but now can do a tonne of animals and is getting really good at repeating, so he’s having his explosion I’d say. It’s another one of those that’s just so baby dependent x

In the month around the time she turned 18 months she went from around 10 words to 50ish. She’s 23 months next week and it now feels like she copies everything she hears but only when she’s a home with mum and dad. She started putting two words together around 19 months but she’s hasn’t made much more progress with that since then.

Yes! At 19 months my son said mama and that was about it. Around 2 he was like a sponge.
Almost 3 and now I can’t shut him up after so long worrying he’d never speak x

At around 2 we started getting 2 words together, she’s 2 years 4 months and this week I’d say we’ve had a massive leap and we’re getting some actual 3/4 word sentences

Yeah, from 19 months on, my kids said a new word every day, pretty much
But for some kids, that doesn't happen until 2
There is a big cognitive development at 18 months and again around their 2nd birthday

I had no idea about this language explosion and I was blown away. My son went from just saying “mama, dada, banana, water, nana, ta” and a few other words to literally saying the entire alphabet, saying colours, copying any words we say. Saying sentences. It’s insane

My daughter is 19 months, and I won’t lie, her language and communication is incredible, she’s saying 3 word sentences, and I’d say she is approaching 75-100 words/phrases, counting to 10 etc! She has definitely had the ‘explosion’ over the last month or so!
of course this isn’t always the norm, and some children don’t speak much until 2+, so definitely child dependent x

With both of my kids I have noticed this around 18 months (actually my daughter turns 18 months on Thursday). She’s just suddenly started putting more words together. Like last night she wanted my husband’s sparkling water (we basically just let her touch her mouth to it lol, rather than actually drink it). So she started saying “dada water” and then pointing to herself and saying her name.
It’s often when they’ll start saying things other than nouns. Like instead of just labeling things it switches to more trying to use language as a communication form.

It started around 16 months but yes. Before, you'd have maybe 10 new words every week or so. Suddenly they start learning 20 new words daily. It flips like a switch.

Yeah 100%. At 19 months my little girl had max 20 words and couldn’t put any together. She couldn’t count at all.
Now at 22 months she has 200+ words and can put two and three words together. She can also rote count to 20 and recognises all the digits 🙂

I’m in the same exact boat with my 19 month old I keep worrying about speech delay but I think some babies just have the boom of words earlier!
My friend said you have either a mover or a talker at one year! We have a mover so that’s been comforting hahaha
My sister said also just enjoy peace and quiet because it will come out of nowhere haha

Yesss! My little girl is 21 months and the last month or so it’s suddenly been super noticeable! I’d say she’s got at least 200 words now. She’s suddenly stringing 2 or even 3 words together and it’s just amazing to see her develop. But also remember that each child takes it at their own pace and your little one is doing just fine 💗

Take lots of videos of her talking because you'll be surprised how much better their speech gets without you realising. You'll look back on two weeks ago and be able to notice a difference.
Hi mummas, I’m just wondering if anyone else feels this way since becoming a mum.
How do you feel when it comes to receiving advice from family, friends or other people about your baby and the way you parent?
I completely understand that most people mean well, and sometimes advice can genuinely be helpful. But I’ve noticed that when I’m constantly being told what I should or shouldn’t be doing, or hearing things like “you should do this,” “try this,” or “I used to do it this way,” I can start to feel really frustrated and overwhelmed.
Sometimes I don’t necessarily want advice—I just want to be able to talk about something without feeling like I need to change what I’m doing. I also feel like constantly hearing other people’s opinions can sometimes make you second-guess yourself as a mum, even when you were originally confident in your own decision.
I’m curious whether other mums feel the same way. Do you usually appreciate advice and take it on board, or do you sometimes find yourself becoming frustrated by it? Have you found that becoming a mum has made you want more space to figure things out for yourself and trust your own instincts?
No judgement either way—I’d genuinely love to hear how other mums feel about this.

Any tips on just getting out more with the baby? She is 3 months old and fights her naps terribly, so once she’s tired she will just scream and in the house I have to stand and rock her so I worry about going out because she will scream in the car and when out in public but I’m going crazy being in the house or just wandering around the streets. It’s really starting to affect me 😢

Hello!
Due to various reasons we had to start feeding our baby with formula from birth - the main one was my milk coming in late. Ofc, baby got used to the bottle. I have been pumping and feed him expressed milk
Has anyone managed to get back to breastfeeding after bottle e feeding for a considerable amount of time? (2 months in our case)?
If you used a lactation consultant, was it successful? And how many sessions did it take?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

My MIL smells my kids feet every time we go over! She will do it in the most random of times and I think it’s odd behavior! She will also eat something that they took a bite out of every-time as well and again I think that’s odd behavior, she goes out of her way to do those things every-time we see her! Anyone else know someone who does this?? My kids are 2 and 6 btw.

My baby was on my boob for over 2 hours. Midwife said this was normal but it felt like a long time?!

We dint let our MIL know that we were expecting our second one.But she planned her vacation around my due date and she is here with us from day one of our baby. She already complained twice to my husband that i am not letting her to hold my baby. This was when the baby was just 7 days old.She is not helping me with anything else , but interested in holding the baby all the time.I told her it will be helpful if you can free up some of time with cooking and housework, so i can spend more time with the baby.We do have a three year old who is going to daycare M-F, she is least interested in playing or engaging with him.Since the baby is two weeks old today, i was keeping her on the Momaroo baby swing near to my husband office, baby started crying and within a minute MIL rushed and tried to take her from the swing.I was near to swing patting her and my husband was watching us.I told her no need to hold the baby now and she just left and i can see that she was grumpy already, noticing that husband told me to give baby and i tried and she said no need.
