Genuine Question About Tracking

How many of you tracked feeds, sleep, and diapers vs just feeding on demand (bottle or breast) and following baby's cues? For those that tracked - may I ask why/ if it helped in some specific way?

It helped me remember when I was so tired.
I breastfed and I did fed on demand so it was irregular but that’s ok.
I slowly stopped tracking after one and then fully done at two. It helps remember what they ate or new foods they try. Or if they have pooped for a day etc.

I tracked everything at first and now I only track her naps honestly and mostly just follow her cues. The naps help so I know when to get her down before she gets overtired. I use the huckleberry app for it

I tracked everything for my 1st, but 2nd I only track naps. I liked to monitor how much she was feeding and her soiled nappies as she didnt go very often x

It helps me remember when the last time was if I was too tired, but also if my partner took over, we didn’t even have to check in with each other to make sure she was eating - we could just check the tracker

I didn’t track at all with my first and it made us stay in the hospital longer because he wasn’t gaining fast enough..with me second I was really scared of it happening again and I kept track and woke him for feeds

I sorta tracked off and on. I didn’t for the first 12 weeks. Just followed baby’s cues. But I would track poops when I realized he was constipated for a few days but then it would fizzle out. I’d track sleep just so my husband knew when to put the baby down and I never had to explain our son’s wake windows or bed time to him. He could just follow the app and take that mental load off of me. I tracked nursing/milk when he went through a nursing strike. Just to make sure he was eating something. I never tracked solids. So it was off and on what I tracked and when. But there was always a point to it.

I only really tracked feeding long term (first 5-6 months I’d say) to remember what side I last fed on lol

I tracked diapers until 3-4 months incase I had any concerns from them to bring up to the pediatrician at our next visit

I used the app Nara baby! Loved it and plan to use it again with our second (I also logged the vaccines my son got in the app too)

With my first we tracked everything for about 6 or 7 months. Diapers, nursing, tummy time, outside time, ect. She was so colicky and mad all the time. I thought maybe we would be able to see patterns or something.

With my second I tracked breastfeeding for a few months but nothing else.

I tracked everything to start with but within a week or so I stopped tracking sleep because it was exhausting (ironic I know). I track feeds and nappies purely so I remember how long it’s been between and can see patterns.

I only tracked diapers(how many and what they looked like) and bottles for the first 2 weeks. She fed on demand and I never set a timer for anything and just let her sleep whenever she was tired 🤷🏽‍♀️

I chose never tracked but I did actually try it for a couple of days because everyone else was doing it and I wanted to see if it helped or made a difference. I hated it and stopped after a couple of days 😆

I tracked for my first baby. It did help (so I thought) with knowing which side I last nursed on and for how long. Also tracked naps and diapers. After like 4/5 months I stopped. Never tracked anything for baby #2 or #3. lol it wasn’t important tbh I knew the baby was eating and growing so didn’t feel like I needed to. I did enjoy looking at the logs. It was just exciting with my first.

I track using huckleberry. Her feeds and sleep. As worried she wasn't getting enough daytime sleep. Feeds is purely to know when I last fed her

It helped me remember things easier. I tracked more so the diapers but a little bit of the feeding. My daughter came early at 36 weeks, we had issues with weight gain and consistent poops so this helped me amongst my exhaustion. Due to her weight issues and constant doctor visits, I remember for a week straight I had to feed her every two hours because she wasn’t gaining so the tracking was a life saver for my own personal sanity but also doctors appointments.

I track so I know which boob was last and when she last has a poo as was constipated and I csbt remember with being so sleep deprived

Avatar

It doesn't give me the option for tracking feeding and naps but I use the Nara baby app and I started tracking pretty much everything the first few weeks to a month and then I slowly just started tracking just her sleeping and her eating. And that's mostly to figure out if it's about nap time or food time if our little schedule we have goes a little awry

Avatar

I had to track everything with my first because he wasn't gaining enough weight fast enough and it was a major concern for me and the doctor
