Hi all! I'm due around Christmas and will be giving birth most likely in the birthing center at Frimley park hospital. My midwife is sweet but hasn't given me a lot of information just yet about how the hospital units actually are, what type of room / setup it will be, is it sharing or possible to request a private room, how many days I can stay (not wanting to be asked to go home same or next day) etc etc.
Keen to hear experiences from others who have given birth at FP and would be happy to share any tips / guidance that could also help me prepare for hospital bag, giving birth? Thankyou šš¼šš¼

I had both my children there and couldnāt fault them. I honestly felt so well looked after in both births!! I didnāt ask for anything specific so Iām not sure on those questions but just wanted to let you know that my experience with there was faultless!

I had my boy there in December 3yrs ago, I was supposed to have a home birth but ended up going into labour ward & they were nothing short of amazing there.
The only thing that ruined my experience was going into the postnatal ward, the staff werenāt great at all in all honesty, I had to stay overnight, after a few things happened I complained & got given a private side room which was much better but I was told I could go home in the morning & ended up leaving around 6pm instead & that was only because my midwife saw I was still there & she worked as quick as she could to get me out & home x

Had an amazing experience at FP for my daughter who was born in November 2025. The labour ward Midwife team and doctors were amazing. I was not strict on a particular birth plan as I know things can go unexpectedly not how you want it sometimes.
The only thing that really upset me was the postnatal wards. It was shared with many other mums / babies so couldnāt get proper rest as it was constantly noisy and I couldnāt have my husband staying overnight ! So had to rely on the team which werenāt as great as the labour ward team as it can be very slow.
Due to some delay I was monitored and stayed an extra day than expected. I wish I had a private room and husband been able to stay and support.
There was also this old lady in there who was strict with visitors and she ended up getting on everyoneās nerves ( I wish I complained)
But other than that everything went well.
For hospital bags: your midwife should give you a checklist of things to bring. And lots of research for both !
Feel like Iām fully in the trenches with this gas pain, my stomach is so noisy and painful, I do not remember this type of pain after my first. I had my section on Friday afternoon and the last 6 hours have been horrid.
Anyone have any tips? Or just tell me it gets betterš„²

So for context, I called the emergency gynecology unit about 2 days ago (alos used as the early pregnancy unit; under 8 weeks), due to ongoing bleeding & minor interchanging cramps, the first woman I spoke to was sweet enough.. she just sounded tired, told me the triage nurse would call me within the hour, it took nearly 2 hours so i was just left panicking, she FINALLY called me back at around midnight and the attitude on this woman STANK. I mean, she picked up and I felt like I could actually hear the eyeroll, I explained my symptoms, she looked through my chart, she seen I was in at around 5 weeks pregnant for a reassurance scan to check it wasn't an ectopic pregnancy and had a scan booked for the 14th to check bubbas heartbeat as it was too early to see it last time. She goes "you're bleeding?", me: "yes.", her: "any pain?", me: "a little", her: "k" (kissed her teeth), her: i can see here you have a scan on Monday?", me: "yup", her: "okay, well they're only scanning you cos they couldn't find ITS heartbeat, so if the bleeding/cramping gets any worse then don't bother going to your appointment on monday or the 23rd cos you've miscarried. Go ER tho." Me: (getting understandably upset and trying to hold back tears) "okay..", her: "k, anything else I can help you with", me: "no", her: "okay, soz luv. Ave a nice night" then hung up on me, I dont know if im over reacting because im just more sensitive at the moment from the changing hormones n stuff but that just felt extremely rude and insensitive, especially when on my notes in red at the top of the page in bold letters, it mentions ive had prior losses & a 'recent' infant loss (last year in may, Suspected SIDS but unconfirmed), there was just no emotion in how she said anything or like she even took into consideration how I'd feel hearing that?... and then to proceed to call my baby an "IT", there's plenty other terminology to use than "it". š¤¦āāļøš¤¦āāļø am I overreacting or do I have a right to be upset/annoyed??.

Iām only 26 weeks but felt a small pop and a little bit of gushing.
Pants are wet but not terribly soaked. I am having cramping though. Iām almost positive itās not urine as I had went to the bathroom only 5 min prior.
How much fluid would there be if it was my water breaking?

I am 31 weeks and 4 days, my mucus plug left 3/4 days ago i have not been feeling too well for past 5-6 days now. I have had a feeling something isnt right and something is going to happen! Now baby is all good and active and shes been normal. Last night i noticed clear and none smell liquid (thinking my waters) leaking. Any how i go and ring triage and get told to go in, get there monitor baby and shes happy. I then get told theyre going to do a swab for my waters and thrush as i have had thrush before. Dr comes and does a speculum just looks says cervix is intact and just looking im happy for you to go home. Then asked if i have a history of thrush she then just gets a swab and shuvs it in me that came back fine not thrush i then get sent home.
Something doesnāt sit right with me though. My mucus plug or what i think was left me then im leaking clear water so obviously i am thinking shit my waters have gone but drās talking to me like a child send me home gone through 2 sanitary towels (thick ones) in 5 hours (maximum) but apparently thats ānormalā because my cervix is normal. My gut feeling is saying go back but i am annoyed at how they was speaking to me. I am 21 years old and i know my body and i know something isnt feeling right at all.
What do i do because i dont want to go back and feel like i have wasted another journey as it really upset me thinking about it but i dont know what to do at all now.
