My daughter is almost 5.5 months. HV was worried she had dropped a centile and told us we needed to feed her 8oz (ridiculous) every 3 hours including throughout the night, when she was 4 months old, she’s now a great weight and chunky if you ask me.
The past few weeks she has had to drink 8oz every 4 hours like she cried at the end of the bottles and if we dared make 7oz she would scream because she had become accustom to more. In my view this wasn’t great advice as she has always had bad reflux.
Anyway, she’s been able to sit up since she was around 4.5 m/o and we were given the green light to wean her at 5 months due to them wanting to keep her at her centile line or above, she now has dinner at about 4:30pm and a breakfast (porridge or toast or something).
She sleeps through the night 7-7 but that means she only has 4 bottles in the day (8oz). The past few days she’s been drinking less milk (yesterday out of 16oz, two feeds, she only drank 6oz) and I’m worried it’s because she prefers the food. Would you limit her food as I know their nutrients come from milk? Or do you think it’s a temporary lapse and she will come back out of it, perhaps a leap or something?

Why would you be worried she prefers food? It’s great Shes eating and having a healthy balanced diet is nothing to be worried about. Keep the weaning gojng and it’s completely normal for them to drop milk in take :)

I personally would lay back on the food, stick to one ‘meal’ a day. Whilst it’s good she’s enjoying food she’s still very very young and it’s really important she’s getting enough milk x

The HV advise is so ridiculous. You cant force feed babies.
She will have her up and down days, babies don't drink same amount everyday.
Also as shes only 5.5months she doesnt need food twice a day, reduce it to once and its literally a table spoon they will normally eat.
