2 year old at church

My son just turned 2 and he’s very active. He always wants to walk and run. I tried to take toys and snacks for him so he can sit still at church but it only works for about 3 mins. My mom yelled at me saying I’m a horrible mother because my son won’t sit still at church and that I embarrassed her. Am I in the wrong? How can I keep my son still at church?

Awww I’m sorry but is there a children church?

I still feel like that is still really little for him to be able control himself. I have just been taking my 1 year old girl to the kids area now. I couldn't have her in the actual church she wouldn't sit still. But they are supposed to be that way currently. You are not a bad mom. You are doing your job by bringing your child there. "Let all the little children come to me" said Jesus.

Definitely not a bad mum kids at that age cannot sit still or understand what's happening. If there are more children that age maybe suggest there is an area for mum and young babies to go where you can see and hear the sermon but you guys have a free space for your babies/young toddlers to move around. With how many babies our church just got they had to create a separate room otherwise it would stress everyone out - mums feeling anxious about the noise and older people unable to hear. This is just a season too I'm currently in a season where taking my kids to church means I'm not always able to pay attention or listen to the sermon but we're not forsaking the gathering and doing holy work by raising and training our children it's not going to be perfect. Church is God's house and children belong where their heavenly Father is, their participation just looks different God doesn't see them as a burden they're a blessing. Hope this situation is able to get better for you 🙏🏾❤️

This has been on my heart lately in our own personal way...its sad that modern christian culture has normalized children being a distraction whereas in biblical times children were always attached to their mothers and probably werent seen as so because of that normality

but a friend gave me this encouragement that I hope encourages you. The fact that you are still coming to church with your child is 1. Showing your child that church is important and stewarding what God gave you, and 2. Its worship with your body to just show up to church. He is more of a distraction to you than anyone probably, so you probably aren't able to focus and worship mentally, but the fact you are coming with your child to be in the Lords presence is worship to Him, and I think He honors that. If you have to step aside for a while if he is getting cranky, thats ok to do to. If you have a program for when he turns 3, I hope it encourages you that its only for a short season. And if people are upset, thats between them and the Lord.

Tickling

Do you allow family members to tickle your child? I personally find it really hard to watch as I hate being tickled, and although my daughter is kind of smiling i don’t think she enjoys it. How do you tell them to stop doing it? Or am I being over the top?
My daughter is almost 15 months

Baby breastfeeding while asleep?

My 3month old has started to keep drinking while she falls asleep? As in, Im nursing her, shes suckling, and then she nods off but...just keeps suckling? Lazily, but definitely still chomped on. She fights me when I try to break the seal, and if I dont remove the nipple from her she'll sleep-suckle for 20, 30min easily. When I do remove it successfully she wakes a few minutes later, absolutely furious!

Is this a 3month thing? My poor nipples 😢

3 month old bedtime?

What time are you putting your 3 month olds to bed at night? Mine I do 9pm but I’m worried that this is too late?

Partner not okay with breastfeeding

We started out with a combo of breast feeding and bottle feeding (formula and expressed milk) but I found breast feeding is just easier, quicker, less dishes.

Baby girl is coming up on 8weeks old and my partner is very uncomfortable with me breastfeeding with anyone around. I do my best to be discreet and respectful of his feelings but babies run on baby time. He won’t let me feed our baby if we are in public, I have to go to the car. If his family is over to see the baby I have to leave the conversation and go to another room while they continue to visit.

Has anyone else’s partner been uncomfortable? How did you navigate the conversation of “I’m going to feed our baby- idc if it makes you uncomfortable” without a huge fight?

Thanks in advance for any thought or advice!

Is constant crying normal for a 2 week old?

My 2 week old cries almost all the time unless being held or fed. Is this normal at this age, or should I be worried? Any tips for coping or helping to settle them would be appreciated!

What are we expecting from our partners when they go back to work help wise ??

My fiancé is going back to work tomorrow after being off for 16 days….last night he asked : “I’m not expected to help at night when I’m back to work am I?”

For a bit of context I’m needing a bit of extra help at the moment because of a really intense feeding plan that I’m on. Baby has remained the same weight since her 5 day check due to a tongue tie causing feeding troubles. The health visitors and midwives have been putting so much pressure on me, calling me daily & constantly making me come for weigh ins.
I have been told to pump, then feed her from the breast, then pump again, then feed her what I’ve pumped immediately after.
The whole ruiteen can take hours, with a baby who’s hungry & screaming but refusing to latch & waiting for the pumped milk. The whole feeding schedule is a full time job itself. So recently I have needed him to help give formula bottles in the night if she can’t wait for my milk & also asked him to start helping with the sterilising the bottles/pumps & nappies as it was all starting to make me depressed. He’s only just started helping me like 3 nights ago.
Doing it alone was hell & I don’t want things to go back to that. All I did was cry all day & all night. And all he did was complain that I’m moody and not showing him enough affection.

He’s a painter and decorator but he drives a 1hr journey to his location on the motorway + leaves at 5:30am, so I know sleep is important safety wise and I don’t want to be selfish. I do see his side 100%.

But I also don’t want to end up back in that dark place & start hating motherhood again.
Just him giving a bottle & changing the nappy whilst I pump is a huge help. Without help I can’t do it all, and her weight will probably stall again.

He clearly doesn’t want to help in the night (starting from today) and will probably see me as the bad guy if I ask him to do anything.

I’m just so worried im going to go loopy again & worried about baby’s health.

Do you still expect your partners to help? Or do you let them sleep?
