housing

wondering if anyone has any advice? / rant

anonymous because i’m slightly embarrassed😕

i currently live at my partners family home we’ve tried to look for private rented properties and there is no way we can afford it. we are wirh our local council on a waiting list for a house but we are the lowest band and honestly we’re getting no where.
the room we are in is so small we can fit baby’s next to me in here but it’s a tight squeeze and with 4 weeks left of my pregnancy this is causing me a lot of stress.
baby will be safe here when she arrives but i need a place of our own or i just feel so in the way of his family with especially a newborn baby getting up multiple times a night for feeds etc

i know some are gonna say i shouldn’t have gotten pregnant without a stable place to live but this wasn’t planned but was also the biggest blessing of my life and i couldn’t part wirh that.

i wouldn’t even consider my self as “poor” either before maternity leave i was making good money just unfortunately properties in my area are so expensive 😞

I'm unsure how it works hun but I would think once you've had the baby you could re contact the council and explain your situation is more difficult now as there is guidance around how far a radiator needs to be and other things from a baby. I know it doesnt help your situation but it does help having the baby really close post birth and thats probably one of the few positives. Hoping post mat leave you are eligible for child benefit and things xxx
