Nurseries

For context I recieve UC & eligible for 15 hours - I’ve contacted a few nurseries , but I’m so confused on how they are charging £100 for fees £60 for admission and if my lo was ill and missed a few days I would need to pay ( that is understandable for work pay etc ) but are there any other nurseries that are low fee ?

i paid £250 for my daughter to start her nursery. i don’t remember exact split but some was deposit that i’ll get back when she leaves providing i give adequate notice, and part was just admission fees. if that’s what you mean, then it’s very common. and yes as frustrating as it is, you pay for the space so regardless of whether your child is there or not, you pay, as they’re losing money if you do not as they can’t give the slot to someone else. some nurseries offer a certain amount of holiday, so you can take days and not pay, but not all xx

You could opt out of consumables charge but you’d have to supply everything yourself including food. You will have to pay for the day even if your child doesn’t go as you pay for the place basically x

We found nurseries way too expensive and have found a childminder instead that’s more affordable
