Travel question

I am travelling alone with my son abroad

My son has my husband's surname and my surname as his middle name

Do I need to carry any additional documentation in order to go through immigration?

Bring his birth certificate and ideally a letter from your husband saying he agrees with the travel. I’ve travelled multiple times with my daughter, I was only asked for a letter once but I’m always asked for birth certificate when I return to the uk.

Bring his birth certificate. My daughter has my partners name and he often stays where we are for work and we travel home a bit earlier. Ive never had a problem entering another country however the UK ALWAYS asks me for it. The first time I didnt have it and the man was very kind and let me in as she was only 4 months old but Ive never forgotten since

I always carry a copy of the birth cert with my eldest, travelled loads (he's 13 now) and almost always been asked for it. Never needed a letter though from his dad though even though at the beginning I used to have one.
