They both have a house that’s being sold in the process and my mom seeing all the money apparently they own five years of taxes in the house that they have right now that they’re still paying, but my dad doesn’t want anything to do with it. If my dad doesn’t pay the taxes with my mom does he get in trouble because my mom is saying that he has to help her pay the taxes of five years when they were together they had a company and she never cared about paying the taxes

Surely it'll be paid when it's sold and then the balance will be split after that?
But as long as someone pays, it doesn't matter who, but morally it should be split by both of them or how finances were in the marriage. So if she's a satm and he worked he'd pay.

They'd have to check specifically where they live though because some jurisdiction have wild rules specifically about this stuff.
