I consider myself a single mom, and I’ve met up with this mom from here a few times. She talks about her husband A LOT, like he comes up in almost every conversation, and she even brings him along when we hang out with our other mom friend. Anytime I see pictures of families on mom apps, I lowkey get emotional and think, ‘damn, it must be nice to have a man who’s there for you.’ 🥺 She also told me, ‘I’m so glad I’m not a single mom.’ I honestly lowkey cried because it made me start thinking that maybe I messed up my life by not being able to give my baby the kind of family dynamic I wish she had. I know I shouldn’t compare my situation to someone else’s, but it really got to me. Idk if she meant it in a hurtful way or if I’m taking it personally. What would you do?

Definitely step back you don’t wanna be by someone who reminds you of the negative things going on in your life. It’s not wrong to protect your peace

I'd be honest with her that her words hurt, but also just because she talks about and brings her husband everywhere doesnt mean their dynamic is so good in private, like I love my husband and im super greatful for him dont get me wrong, but I was raised by a single mom so, as a child of a single mother, youre doing everything you can and need to do to provide for your child(ren). You go momma!

wtf- frankly I think that’s insensitive of her to say that to you… but also don’t second guess yourself!! You didn’t mess anything up! As a single mother myself i know i did the right thing! But I will say i personally keep distant from people who are in relationships cuz most of these relationships are not what people make you believe they are and i call that shit out lol but yeah maybe it’s better to have single friends when you are single cuz some married folk don’t understand what it takes to be a single parent…

That sounds terrible. Everything else is fine, but the comment about being thankful she's not a single mom, that's pretty rude. Either tell her how you feel or disengage from the friendship if it's not a very developed one maybe it shouldn't be.
I can tell you from experience though being a single mom is not a negative. You are so powerful, I divorced my ex-husband when my second daughter was 1 and she is almost 10 now. Trust me they will notice all you do.

I’m so sorry you feel that way! Your feelings are valid and matter! She should be considerate of your situation! Protect your peace and take a step back from her! You’ll find the right people, she’s just not it and that’s okay!!!
