Please give me your thoughts on these Arabic names!!

There are only 2 girls names I like - they are Khalila and Khalula (my preferences are for a super uncommon name with a good meaning, doesn't start with a vowel, kind of long and feminine, lends itself to a cute nickname).

Khalila is a much more established name with a sound meaning however the nickname Leela wouldn't work because it's my niece's nickname and also the name Khalila is only one letter different to my fav boys name, if I was ever to have a boy.

Khalula (pronounced like the English Tallulah but with a K sound) is so unusual that no one seems to have heard of it and I worry it might be a bit too random. Super cute nicknames Lulu / Lula.

If it wasn't for the boys name issue I'd probably go with Khalila. My question is, do you like Khalula? Do you think it'd grow on you the more you heard it? Or is it too weird?

Any thoughts welcome!

Thank you ❤️

Khalil is a great name but having a khalil and a khalila might make people think they're twins but thats it. Khali is a cute nickname? Also, if that's the name you love (very cute btw!) Then go with it! Dont let a future son take away the name you like, there's plenty of interesting arabic boys names but ones that fit your specifications for girls names are tough! I had a similar conundrum. Whichever you pick will be lovely! I haven't heard of khalula either but its cute

I actually think Khalula is cute but honestly it sounds very similar to the alcoholic beverage Kahlua, so if I were you I would keep testing it to see how many people make the association

Do you speak Arabic?
/Kh/ doesn't usually represent the /k/ sound but a sound that doesn't exist in English.

I’m not sure what Khalula means but I do quite like Khalila. If you’re still unsure because of the boy name thing, I always liked the name Maymunah, I think it meet the requirements but is probably a bit less uncommon than Khalila

I actually really like Khalula! ❤️ I don’t think it sounds too weird, especially with Lulu/Lula as nicknames. It definitely feels more unusual than Khalila, but in a good way.
I think it’s one of those names that could sound more familiar the more you hear it. And honestly, if you keep coming back to it, that probably says something 😂 I’d choose the one that feels most like your baby rather than worrying too much about whether other people have heard it before. ❤️

Thank you all - this is so helpful.

So the boys name is actually Khalifa and not Khalil, sorry didn't specify that. So still only one letter different but I feel too similar to Khalila?

Yes lol noticed the similarity to the alcoholic drink however we don't drink and so it's not something that bothers me in all honesty.

Yes also do fully appreciate that Kh isn't the same sound as K in Arabic however as we are English-speaking the Kh sound often becomes anglicised to K - i have a SIL and a niece called Khadijah and a male cousin called Khalil and all are pronounced with a K rather than Kh. So if I chose either Khalila or Khalula I would probably switch between both phonetic sounds depending on where I was.

According to ChatGPT lol, Khalula seems to have a similar meaning to Khalila - being about friendship - but I'm not fully sure.

It's so hard to choose and I haven't found anything else I like at all!

Please do offer any further thoughts if you have them, it's SO helpful for me to hear ppl's opinions rn!

I actually prefer Khalula as I first pronounced Kahlila like Delilah and I prefer the nicknames Lulu/Lula
