I just feel so torn to get whooping cough and rsv vaccine. I want to obviously protect my baby but at the same time, will never know truly what’s in these vaccines that we put in our bodies and babies bodies. Our mums and grandmas never had these in their time and kids were fine.

I haven’t heard of any babies or mums being harmed by the RSV vaccine or the whooping cough. I have, however, heard too many stories of babies dying and getting seriously ill from RSV. Unfortunately older generations lost babies at a higher rate than this generation. Sure, we made it but not every family was as lucky! It’s 100% up to you but the amount of research that goes into these vaccines to make sure they’re safe for you and baby is extensive.

I’m getting everything they offer and giving my baby everything that the pediatrician recommends. I do not trust the current CDC (American here) recommendations. I was vaccinated and I’m glad. My mother got whooping cough from a lapse in being vaccinated again as an adult and it triggered a lot of viral issues that ultimately led to health decline and death, and I truly think having been up-to-date, she may still be here. They’re researched heavily and recommended for a reason. That’s just my personal experience and opinion, though. My baby is going to be born November/December and I refuse to potentially put her at risk to anything.

I had both and no side effects to me having them, like others said the data on babies getting rsv isn’t great for them so it was an easy choice personally. My friend who has a baby at the same time didn’t have them rsv vaccine due to early labour and her baby had rsv twice and was hospitalised.

I would’ve written this myself 😩 I’m on the fence about whether to take it or not. I’ve spoken to my community midwife and told her I won’t be taking it, but I might change my mind. My spirit is strongly against it, but I’m not sure if it’s me just overthinking it. I did have it with my first child tho

I'm taking the ones my midwife recommends! I don't see a reason not to! I want my baby to be as protected as possible in those early weeks/months when he will be so fragile

If you get the RSV while pregnant you don't have to get one for your baby. The whooping cough I would get and space them out during infancy. Don't get the vaccines when they are feeling sick. I passed on the 3 month vaccines until he felt better because he was running a little hot because of teething. My pediatrician office totally understood!! It's totally up to you though.

i honestly don’t trust vaccines of any kind, i never got flu shots and my immune system is great! rather than the people i know who got them get sick more often! i was vaccinated as a kid but vaccines have changed so much in 20+ years it’s not just one they dose 3-7 vaccines in 1 which is extremely dangerous, i believe they don’t actually test the vaccines that well and that they use the people they give them to as trials and tests to see how it needs to be modified. i believe vaccines weaken the immune system, i mean i got the measles and mumps vaccine but my mom held out as long as she could, i was about 11 because schools started requiring it to attend. im so against big pharma and have done loads of research on medications from peer review and i think vaccines aren’t that different. there are so many other options to help strengthen the immune system. i will not be vaccinating my baby, i know RSV is dangerous i will not be letting anyone with the slightest cold around my newborn.

I got tdap and will be getting rsv. Baby will be here in peak rsv season for us so I want to make sure baby is covered. I am doing my research on all vaccines for baby after birth. We will not be giving ALL vaccines but we will be giving some as I am in the same boat you are as far as not wanting to put all these chemicals into a brand new baby and I want to weigh the benefits vs risk. Plus its going to make a difference if you're in the USA or elsewhere. USA puts whatever in their vaccines and requires a multitude more vaccines than other countries.

I didn’t get any while pregnant and haven’t given any to child so far(she’s 3 months) nor do we plan to in future. She’s been the picture of health

Vaccination is such an incredible thing. The ones advised in pregnancy and infancy are so well tested. The data behind them spans tens of thousands of cases in research studies and epidemiological data based on millions. So often the arguments against are ‘well I was fine without them’ which is data based on one person. And the healthcare system in the UK (being free at the point of use) gets absolutely nothing out of peddling bad drugs or vaccines. It’s constantly trying to figure out where to save money and yet keeps expanding vaccine programs - because they’re an amazing and cost effective intervention.
I’ve had a late second trimester loss so really do understand anxieties around introducing variables to a pregnancy that feel outside of your control, but even with that I’ve never second guessed getting my baby or myself vaccinated.
