Witching Hours - There Is Hope!!

Just a positive post to say that there is light at the end of the tunnel for those of you with babies going through the witching hours! My baby boy is now almost 8 weeks old, from around 3 weeks he was inconsolable for a couple of hours anywhere between 5pm and 9pm, but the past three nights has been so much better!

It is a haaaaarrrrdddd phase though! If you are going through it, what helped me was holding him securely while bouncing on my birthing ball and singing slowed down versions of my fave pop songs (twinkle twinkle got old v fast!) and then tapping in and out with my husband when it got too much.

Hoping I've not jinxed it with this post 😅

I can vouch for this also! From 3 weeks my boy was so hard to settle and constantly screaming! Since hitting 7 weeks the witching hours have stopped (fingers crossed)

The birthing ball is SO GOOD for calming my little girl. Couldn’t be without it

I can also add that it is definitely a phase and I was SO worried it was just how my little girl was! We’ve had witching hour during the growth spurts at 2-3 weeks and then 6-7.5 weeks ish. It wasn’t until 7 weeks we clicked on that it lined up with her “leaps” and then just passed. Nothing worked for us consistently, in the end I stopped trying to fight with her to get her to sleep, this seemed to make things worse to constantly rock or bounce etc. Instead of focusing on sleep, I focused on getting her distracted and calm. The bath was the thing for us that helped slightly. It chilled her out for half an hour so we all got a break from the screaming and could then try settling her again once she had calmed down. I’m expecting to have the same again at around 3 months and then 4 months if we get a sleep regression but I’m at least hopeful now it will last a week or so and then be gone again 🤞🏼
