C-section procedures

Hi all

My c section is schedule next week and I’m clueless what happens there. They’ve called me at 7 am - could anyone please share from their experience what to expect there? What happens after I reach? Just want to make up my mind and calm my anxiety down.
Thanks in advance

You go in, get changed into a lovely fetching gown (you should already have the stockings on), few admin bits until youre called up. Waddle on down to theatre, cannula in the hand (pro tip ask for the anaesthetist to cannulise you, theyre magicians with a needle), then they'll sit you on the bed and place your spinal/epidural, THEN urine catheter (lovely piss bag), they check youre all numb, and get on with the job. You'll either see baby come out or hear them, then cuddle with baby while youre fastened back up.

You can normally have your own playlist on during.

Off to recovery, probably off your head on fentanyl, for tea and toast and to feed/cuddle baby.

Urine bag stays in place overnight. Removal tickles. Get up and walk once its out x

I had my c section last week and honestly such a different experience from my previous emergency c section…

On the day of surgery i had some pre op medication to take whilst at home ( gástric protector and anti sickness) and a drink to keep my sugars up for the morning. Then went to hospital at 7h30. Settled in, they did my observations and the obstetric consultant and anaesthetist came for me to sign the consent forms.
From there I had to wait my turn. I was the third one on the list.

I walked to the operating room, they put a cannula in and gave me a spinal.
Then once the spinal was established they started by putting a catheter in and then from there was fairly quick. The anaesthetist explained things to me as they were happening.

Baby was born, they showed him to me and then checked over. A couple of minutes later they brought him to me for skin to skin contact and he stayed with me throughout.
Went to the recovery room for a couple of hours for monitoring, started

Started breastfeeding and then from there went to the ward.
Took a good 4 hours to be able to feel my legs again…
6 hours post op the midwife helped to stand for the first time which is good for recovery and avoid post op complications. The catheter was removed first thing in the morning.

They made sure pain relief was on board (paracetamol and ibuprofen but you can have oromorph too if needed).

The next day I was home 🥰
That’s it.

Growth scans

Hi ladies - just want to ask if there's anyone here who Hasn't been offered a growth scan? Literally everyone I've chatted with on this app has had one or multiple growth scans. My last scan was the 20 weeks one and I haven't seen baby since 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ want to ask my midwife about this at the next appt but still, is it normal to not be offered one? For context, I'm 34 weeks. Thanks x

C section scar related??

I had an emergency c section in 2024 and this year I’ve noticed something new that keeps happening and I don’t know if it’s linked to having a c section. I’ve noticed when I’m getting out the shower/bath and I’m bending forward to dry my legs and feet I get this random tight knot feeling in my stomach ( few inches above scar). It scares me but soon as I stand back straight it goes. Has anyone else experienced this?

C section pain

Hi, I had an emergency C section 2 weeks ago exactly, it was a pretty horrendous C section in the end 😭 but my question… I’m still finding myself in some pain, a soreness around my scar, a pain inside my stomach and a strain when I wee, is anyone else experiencing this please? I’m taking pain killers when it gets bad maybe once / twice a day if I really need! I really thought the pain would have been gone by now 😭😭

Early labour question!

I had a small bloody show this morning there wasn’t a lot of mucus plug but I’ve been loosing it for months but it was brown/ blood stained only the size of a pea and for the last couple hours I had intense back pain and a suttle pulsating when sat down and the back pain is
now only a very dull ache and baby boy hasn’t been as active but ever since my back pains calm down he responds when I prod him. I still don’t believe this is labour as I’ve had cramps on and off for a couple weeks and just wanted some advice
