Does anyone in the area have experience being a mom to a rather sick kiddo?
My son has had breathing issues since he was 6 months old, he is almost 2 and we're now being referred to specialists including an ENT & RT.
I'm Wondering if any other moms have experience in this area or with any other chronic illnesses. The amount of panic & fear I experience feels unrelenting, I'm a solo parent, I have been since day 1, my mom is my biggest supporter and has been there for me without question.
I feel incredibly guilty for saying this but I'm so tired of rushing him to the hospital. Or sleeping on the floor next to him to make sure he doesn't stop breathing in the night š.

Hello, Iām a medical mama! My girl is seven months old. She has a heart condition where she needed open heart surgery at five months old and now sheās having breathing episodes in her sleep where she wonāt wake up and sheās holding her breath. Everyone says itās time to have her sleep in her own room and thatās just not possible. It feels like itās one thing after another with her⦠iāve been telling a few medical Moms that we need a group on Facebook š

Iām sorry you are going through this. Health issues can really take over become the main focus of what would bonding time otherwise. We deal with much more minor issues and itās really difficult at times.
I recommend getting a referral to Elmtree clinic. They help sick kiddos with development and mental health under 3 and it sounds like this would be great for you. They can help manage the impacts of medical trauma.
Dr. Whitman is a great respirologist. She is apparently one of the top respirologists in Canada and we got in fairly quickly.

Some days are better then others and every medical condition is different. My one daughter has epilepsy in the beginning we didnāt know what to expect and I just started sleeping with her because I learned that she could have seizures in her sleep and children die from this. Needless to say we are very lucky and she has responded well to medication and seizures have now stopped. I did learn though that their are certain monitors that can detect breathing and heart rate etc, we never had to go that route but their are options.
My only advice would be if you can find a specific group to your childās ailment I found that to be really encouraging for me and supportive as I learned a lot about her condition that I didnāt know.
ā¤ļø Being a mom is so much worry all the time and having added medical concerns onto that is so heavy and hard, your doing a great job!

Thank you all so much for your kind words! This is all very helpful, I felt lost but this makes me feel like I know a direction to go in. Thank you š«¶š¼
