Hey DEN moms! Our family is moving to Denver from COS for my husband’s job. I need your help! 🤪
We are a family of 6, and we would love to get started on our search for where to live! My husband will primarily be in DTC and also utilizes DIA a ton - being within 45 mins of DIA would be most ideal + close-ish to DTC is great!
I LOVE older homes with character, bigger yards, close to great coffee shops + restaurants. Think less chains and more local options for food and drinks. Shopping, parks, open spaces, and trails would also be a huge perk! If possible, would love a small town feel with city access.
What areas/suburbs do you definitely recommend? What do you love about the area you live? Where would you live around Denver if you could choose anywhere/why?
I have been recommended wheat ridge, love the homes in Littleton, and looking for input!

Wash park would be great! You’d be close enough from dtc and about 45 mins from dia! For a 3 beds think $2,500 MINIMUM though..

I've owned my home in the Columbine Knolls neighborhood of Littleton for 8 years and love all the things you mentioned looking for. My house is a 1960s build on 1/3 of an acre with a 80+ year old cottonwood in the backyard. My second floor deck has a great view of Platt resevoir and we frequently walk to the park there and along the Mary Carter Greenbelt trail. Chatfield State park and it's great dog park and water sports are a quick bike ride or shorter drive.
Downtown Littleton is small and walkable, really no chains. I also spend a lot of time shopping the Wadsworth area where local stuff like the library and my favorite lake front restaurant and chains (like Trader Joe's and my chuze gym) mix it up with easy parking and beautiful lake walks.
The only area I might recommend over mine is Golden. It has most of the same advantages as Littleton but has more mountain access/views. It's going to be pushing it at 40 mins to DIA and 42 mins to DTC. I'm about the same to DIA but only 20 mins to DTC.
