Am I overreacting or would you be mad too?

Moms, I just need to vent because I’m so frustrated and angry right now. 😭

My daughter went out with her grandma today because she asked to take her to a family event. I said yes because obviously I trusted that she would take care of her. I went to the gym, and when I came back, my daughter’s face was covered in scratches because apparently she had been playing/rolling around in some plants that had thorns.

I take such good care of my daughter, so seeing her little face all scratched up after being away from me for just a few hours honestly broke my heart and made me so angry.

But what’s frustrating me the MOST is the way it was minimized. I was told, “It’s nothing, it’ll be gone tomorrow,” and then, “She wanted to be in there, she was rolling around in the plants.”

She’s 1½ years old!! 😭 Of course she wanted to be there. She would probably run straight into traffic if something interesting caught her attention. That’s why an adult is there to supervise her and stop her from doing something that could hurt her.

And I KNOW accidents happen. My daughter has fallen and gotten hurt while she’s been with me too. I’m not expecting anyone to magically prevent every scratch or fall. What bothers me is that this felt preventable, and instead of just saying, “I’m sorry, I should’ve gotten her out of there,” it feels like I’m being made to feel ridiculous for being upset.

I think that’s what hurts the most. As her mom, I feel like I should be allowed to say, “Hey, this wasn’t okay with me,” without my feelings being dismissed or being told it’s no big deal.

I’m honestly so mad right now that I’d rather not even have the conversation with her until I calm down. 😭 I just needed to vent to other moms because maybe hearing from people who understand will make me feel a little better.

I definitely understand and I think that generation thinks we are “soft.” I also think they minimize it because otherwise they would feel bad or worse feel like a bad mom so they dismiss you. My son scratches his badly if he doesn’t have mittens or someone is not really watching and I get so annoyed. It’s preventable. So I understand. Your mama bear so it make sense.

Omg I completely agree with how you’re feeling. I also agree with them thinking we’re soft, minimizing our feelings.

My mother in law came with me to the hospital while I was pregnant( I was bleeding) and in the emergency room she gets on a phone call and explains to the person what’s happening and says yea she’s soft. Excuse me??? This is my first pregnancy I’m experiencing bleeding trying not to panic and think the worst and instead of you being there for me a 100% you’re on the phone talking shit.

I understand that. Honestly I will be mad too, just because safety is always first.
