ok so i have a 4 and a half month old son, my boyfriend lives with me and helps with him but, i feel very alone. he goes to his parents to make extra money but rarely does he actually work, he used to have substance abuse problems so the first time he went down there i told him i don’t want him around his friends because they hangout with people that abuse substances and they admitted they do. he went and hung out with them anyway and i told him i felt very disrespected and he went and hung out with them again the next weekend. so finally i had to explain it to him in the middle of an emotional break down, but not even a week later he went back down and is doing it again. i feel like he knows he gets a break from our son when he goes down there and i love my son but i need a break too and with him going places every weekend, i NEVER get to ho out and get a break.

Does he make your life easier or harder?

I wouldn't trust him alone with the baby can someone else watch the baby so you can get a break?

It’s not just about you needing a break and feeling disrespected that he gets to run off and have a break of his own, it’s more disrespectful than anything that you’ve told him your concerns about him hanging out with friends that might draw him back into old habits. You need to set boundaries especially when it comes to your kid, if he’s around that stuff he’s also bringing it home maybe not the products them selves but the smells, stuff on his skin/ clothes, ect.. He needs to understand that he’s not just staying clean for himself/ you but for your child.

I don’t think this is disrespectful . But disappointing yes . everyone knows when you tell someone don’t do something they are definitely going to do it bc you said not to nobody want anyone to tell they what to do because he might this it’s controlling but seems like he likes to running away from responsibilities. I think you should pack you a bag and go somewhere for the weekend or something and tell him you going to the store and then go and enjoy yourself bc ik it is hard to get a break from your kid rn I rarely get a break but he always does on my off days it’s like I always have my kid I don’t do nothing and then when he off he does whatever and gets a break

It’s very disrespectful but you’re allowing it. He lives with you, barely works and you have a 4 month old.
If you want a break, secure your village or hire a trusted sitter and go out.
