Hello - looking for some advice please. I was booked in for an induction earlier this week and have been advised the labour ward is so busy that it’s actually closed for new admissions right now until further notice. Has anyone experienced this as well?
I’ve been told it can change quickly but my anxiety is increasing given I was being induced for medical reasons but equally understand pressures on the system right now so feel I can’t challenge it.
Any advice welcome.

This happened to me with my first. I found it frustrating but also wouldn’t want to put my baby at risk because there’s not enough staff to keep everyone safe. I had mine delayed twice and actually went into labour naturally whilst waiting… they were stressed! We were at a small hospital (c. 6-8 babies on average per day) and he was baby no. 18 of the day, and luckily the last. It’s all the Christmas through to valentines babies, they’re always busy between now and Christmas.

I had this with my first, I was induced 2 days later

I experienced this last week. Was due to be induced on Saturday 3rd October due to medical reasons of baby. Was postponed until the Monday due to beds. They then examined me & I was 2cm so they said they can just break my waters instead of pessary / balloon / drip, though I need ti go on maternity ward for that and it was full so was discharged home. Then I started getting contractions 3 hours later and ended up in triage awaiting a maternity ward bed. Then waited from Monday for my waters to be broken…which they eventually went naturally on the Tuesday night and had my daughter early hours of her due date. It was a cause of me waddling from maternity ward to labour & delivery and swapping a room with a lady that had just had her baby 😅 won’t change it though as I’m glad it all happened naturally in the end 🫶🏻

So sorry to hear that! Which hospital is this?
Hello
I’m 36+2 and I’m officially over the midwife care I have received, I’ve been dismissed multiple times on different subjects by multiple midwife’s in my community midwife team , I’ve not seen one consistently it’s been a group of 4 of them , I get told “ we will talk about that at the next appointment “ only to have somone else and it not be discussed & for my last 2 appointments I’ve been sent to maternity assessment .
I also asked not to see one of the midwives again and I was told it’s not possible and can’t garuntee it .
It’s causing me more stress now than anything is anyone else in the same boat ? Can I refuse maternity care going forward ?
I’m happy to go to maternity assessment if needed but I can’t with the community midwives anymore .

Having my second baby and this time around I have to have a C section due to complications in my last pregnancy.
Could you give me your best tips and advice. I have no idea how to prepare or what to bring or use post healing!
Super nervous about it.
Thank you 🩷

Hey guys, so I thought I was 6 weeks pregnant yesterday so I had booked myself in for a pregnancy confirmation scan. I had the expectation to see a yolk sac and possibly a faint heartbeat however when the midwife first looked it was an empty sac no yolk in sight. She did manage to find tiny thing she said she thinks is the yolk sac and marked me down as 5 weeks but would like to see me two days again to see if the yolk sac has developed. It has sent me into a slight spiral that there’s nothing there. It’s my first pregnancy and I am overthinking everything! I was a bit disappointed to not be as far as I thought I was. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Was everything ok in the end? I’ve attached the scan image.

Hi I’m 7 weeks pp after an emergency category 1 section under general anaesthetic, because of this I feel I missed the crucial first few hours of my little man’s life and feel robbed of the first cuddle and here is your baby moment, as I wasn’t back conscious until he was 2 hours old. , has anyone else experienced this? Everyone keeps telling me they’ve never heard of a section done under GA and I feel alone in it with no one to talk to.

My sister has her hen do abroad, 6 weeks after my baby is due. I’m so torn as I know with my first I struggled leaving her for a minute when she was that small. I obviously don’t want to miss my sisters hen do as I’m maid of honour & so excited for her!
My fiance has said he is happy for me to go and he will look after our toddler and the newborn. (I’d have to pump and leave milk) although we might try to combi feed like we did for our first.
Would love to be there for both occasions. Is it so bad just for 3 nights?
