IWent to the GP with my LG because she had stuffy nose and a slight cough. At the time of the consultation I also mentioned that she hasn’t pooed in 4 days. The GP then told me that the baby is constipated and prescribed her laxatives. I did tell her that I’ve been told by other GPs and from my research that is normal for exclusively breastfed babies to go longer without a poo, to which she replied to me that it is incorrect. I then asked how I should administer the laxatives as I am EBF, the GP said she doesn’t know as she never prescribed this medication to breastfed babies and I should have the instructions on the bottle. She then carried to superficially consult my LG for sore throat and chest, said no red spots on the throat and chest was clear but prescribed her antibiotics just in case.
My LO is 18 weeks.
Should I give her the antibiotics and laxatives?

She's been prescribed them. She clearly needs them. Your doctor has given you clear instructions that these medications are to be taken.

Give it another day or two if she gets better, i wouldn’t give her antibiotics.

You can always get a 2nd opinion and ask to see a different gp if you don't fully trust this one. If a 2nd says the same thing if might give you peace of mind

No, the antibiotics were given if you need them. If she gets worse then you fill the script and if she starts to improve then you don't !
And I'd give the laxatives, they aren't harmful

The laxatives will be very hard to give to your bf baby. My daughter was 9 months and needed them but she’s never had a bottle in her life! I mixed with water in her open cup but she actually just refused to drink water then!
I’d want a second opinion also. Definitely sounds like the antibiotics were prescribed as a precautionary rather than necessary. So think you want some clarity on that. If baby needs then, of course give them, this doctor doesn’t seem reliable from what you’re said.
Separate note, it really frustrates me how little doctors know about supporting breastfeeding or medicine with breastfed babies. Breastfeeding has been the norm since the dawn of time so why on earth is medicine so lacking in its knowledge

Ohh also, I had to give medicine to my LO when he was only a few weeks old and he was breastfed. We just used a small syringe. Would squeeze a little bit into the side of his mouth/inside cheek bit by bit.

I wouldn't give either the laxatives or the antibiotics

I wouldn’t give them without a second opinion by someone that qualified more than a day ago lol. I would also report that particular GP for giving incorrect advice to you about babies going longer without pooping as she’s likely spouting this shit (pardon the pun) to other, less clued up, parents.

Don’t understand why you’d go to the GP if you didn’t think the issue was big enough for the meds! Don’t go to a doctor if you don’t want their medical opinion. The baby needs the meds precaution or not x
Hi.
Stupid question as my brain isn’t braining.
My baby is now officially 6m old (happy half birthday!) and I’m wondering what the next step is for using a seat for her bath? She currently has the picture attached and she’s almost grown out of it.
She can’t sit unaided yet, is it the seat I get for her?

Hello!
I am struggling with my 20 months old. She’s amazing but when it’s time to go to sleep she just won’t sleep. Napping is almost impossible and bedtime is eternal. It takes me at least an hour to put her to sleep. If I am not literally next to her, she will cry and won’t stop until I come back (she can cry for 30 mins no problem and never get tired). Also she won’t allow my husband to put her to sleep.
I know this is my fault because I didn’t sleep training her correctly when I was supposed to but I keep trying everything and nothing works. Does anyone have any advice on how to teach her to fall asleep?
Thank you for your time!

So I just need to ask os Huckleberry worth paying for, I need help with my daughter, she has hit the four months stage and last night sent me to the edge, she took over an hour to get her to sleep, I had her asleep around six ISH on me went to transfer after half an hour, and she woke up, checked the app and she needed milk then she went back to sleep around eight ish on me, managed to transfer her to her cot till 10 ISH she had another bottle and went straight back to sleep afterwards but then started fussing around two ISH in the cot eyes closed but whining, I put the dummy in and she went back to sleep and she did this again, still with her eyes closed about half an hour after, then up for four am, had some milk and a nappy change back down near five till eight in the morning, I have been tracking it on huckleberry and wondered if it was worth paying for the premium to get more advice on how to get her to sleep through like she used to, I am going to do a bathing routine three times a week as they not to bathe a baby too much and then I am trying to have wind down times between half six and seven, I am knackered and trying anything but does anyone else's child fuss during the night? Mine does I said before but she doesn't open her eyes or anything so I pop the dummy in to sooth her and try and let her fall back to sleep herself, I watch to see if her eyes open at all. Am I doing this right because I am confused and tired.

We made its 10 weeks exclusively breast feeding just to find out my baby has cmpa and possibly a soy sensitivity and the dietary restrictions are too much. I also don’t mind formula feeding she’s been doing well with it. We started all this in last 3 days. Any advice?
