Hi all my husband and i are unexplained and have been ttc for 4 years, is it worth trying IUI or is my best bet IVF?

I think you can try IUI you might get lucky. Before proceeding to IVF. I did IUI 4 times and it didn’t work for me. Now we’ve decided to go for IVF. But I know couples that got lucky with IUI.

I’m 35, and started this process a year ago really looking to start with an IUI, thinking I was on the young-ish spectrum. It was our doctor who convinced us to go straight to IVF.
We got two healthy embryos out of the process, and are currently trying a natural cycle with Ovidrel (fingers crossed!) with the plan of doing an IUI in Jan if this cycle is unsuccessful.
Freezing our embryos as early as possible was our doctor’s strategy for taking the pressure off. FET planned for February.
Good luck!

It all depends on your case, We were ttc for 2 years with no success, and we decided to go straight into IVF, unfortunately we failed for 2 cycles! What was weird is when we sat with our doctor he said that the next trial would be an IUI, he doesn’t want to take out the eggs of their natural environment, cause maybe it will be better in my case. I still don’t know what will happen really and it’s all been too confusing but we learn a lot about our bodies with every trial. Wishing you the best of luck in your decision.

Hey, I’ve also been ttc for over 4 yrs and as the same as you were are unexplained. I was 32 when we start iui on the nhs (now 34) and went through it for a year, having a total of 6 (3 had to be postponed) we are now going to shortly start our round of ivf. We seen it as trying to give us every opportunity to conceive as naturally as possible. The whole process with iui was mentally draining (the drugs were effected my badly) but I did learn a lot about my body and what maybe going on. I believe it may have better prepared me for ivf. The reason we had so many cancelled was I had issues with my lining and 1 case I had somehow naturally ovulated. I think I has to be your decision together on how you move forward. It’s a tough road whatever you do, but you need to think what’s right for you at this moment. I hope this helps and if you would like to chat I’m here.
Good luck xxx

I’m looking at ivf next year. 3 pregnancies but all loses. My partner has children so can’t be nhs funded
