I have a high risk twin pregnancy (I'm 16 weeks). I'm due to start work again tomorrow and our MD is pretty heartless and refuses to let any of the remote workers to work remotely, and wants us all in the offices which are above massive retail centres, with little to no protection nor have steps been taken to avoid the virus They haven't yet done my risk assessment. Would you go into work or fight back against management? Or am I being paranoid?

They have to be covid secure to be able to require anyone to go back...
As it is a high risk pregnancy, your workplace should be more considerate!
Speak to your HR department after spoken to your manager... surely if you can work from home they shouldn’t require you back with all your circumstances...or speak to your doctor.. get a sick note if needed or something.

Wow it sounds like you shouldn’t be going back the rules state the workplace has to be safe

You girls are right, I think I need to fight back. My company barely follows laws as it is, and it makes me really uncomfortable. The offered to turn my desk around and put a bottle of sanitiser in my office but that's it.

Fight back! Are you in a union? X

I had a risk assessment about four weeks ago and that was before I knew it was twins! My boss is basically making sure that when/if we go back to our office I’m the last one to do so. I would at least speak to HR and tell them what’s going on.

Id join the union online today and raise this with them xx

I am sure that they have to ensure that all the steps are taken to make workplace safe for people to come back! (Social distancing, cleaning, PPE etc) if they have not done tell them you will not return before it’s done xx

If they aren’t putting things in place surely that’s not legal! I would not go!

A as are good for free employment advice. For a full risk assessment you need someone to assess your situation and work area BEFORE you even enter the premises or consider going back to work. You are well within your rights to push back if you are not happy with what they have done (it would be illegal to fire you for it or be unhappy if you said no to coming in - check with Acas but that’s what they told me). Remember you and the babies come first. Not the job. Good luck xx

I think you can report issues on the gov.co.uk website with companies not adhering to taking enough measures to protect you. There is also a section on there you can complete for if you should return to work. I have been very lucky and given the choice even though I work in a retail store that's re opened im 22weeks and classed as high risk so staying furloughed until September xx

You are entitled to a risk assessment so they need to do it, see if you can get advise or maybe even a letter from your midwife about it
