Who has/is going to have their placenta encapsulated? I’ve just received my kit from Placenta Plus and I honestly can’t wait to try it out and experience the benefits. Has anyone else used this company? How did it affect your postpartum recovery?

I have not but please keep us updated on the benefits, that’s so cool

I’ve booked with them too - love their IG! Just waiting on baby to arrive now!

I have never heard of this.. I am so intrigued though! Let me know how you get on x

I had a mid waive do that with my first kid i thought it was nasty i didnt even finish them didnt do anything for me that i noticed

I did it with my first! I always forgot to take the pills and when I did it kind of grossed me out. I think they're still in my fridge over 3 years later 😂

I did this and I feel like it helped with energy post partum and milk supply. The placenta is rich in iron and other minerals which is good during the first few weeks especially.

I’ve just got my freezer bag as I’m 36 weeks. My husband says I love a placebo but quite frankly I’ll do anything if it helps me feel a bit better during the new born phase so I’m very excited to try this!
Placebo or not, worth a try!

I’ve done this got my box ready, and can’t wait to see if there’s results, I just thought if I can do anything to help nourish my body and feel like myself again I will xx

Are you planning on breastfeeding? There is research showing progesterone from your placenta inhibits the lactation hormone prolactin.
Maybe have a chat with a lactation consultant and see what they advice.

So that mean u will be eating ur own placenta then??👀

can you get your placentas after you leave the hospitals?

I am also doing this with placenta plus :)

Done this with both my pregnancies. So much energy, clear skin and my hair and nails flourished 😍. You girls will love it 💕

How much was it

I donated mine, hospital gave me the option to keep it or donate it. I donated it for stem cell research

I was just thinking about this and where I could do it! Thanks for the intro!

Interesting, never known anyone to do it.

I’m doing this! The encapsulation and I’m also receiving smoothies for the first couple days and a placenta print. My doulas are the ones doing it and I’m very excited!

I had mine encapsulated by a postpartum doula. =] totally amazing.

I am! I’m getting my placenta encapsulated and steamed for a tincture

Okay, I guess I am too old or put of the loop but what in the world is it?

I had mine encapsulated with my second! I didn’t suffer from any postpartum depression like I did with my first. I also successfully breastfed for 18 months when I barely made it a week with my first.

I’m not pregnant but I eventually want to have another baby. How do you go about getting your placenta from the hospital? Just say “hey, can I keep that???” Id like to make capsules or save the stem cells.

I did this with my first, but thought with covid it not being a great time.

I plan on encapsulating mine! I’m hoping it’s helpful with postpartum

I’ve heard a lot of great things about the benefits and all, but am I the only one that just the thought of it just seems to gross to me?! Not bashing anyone who does it by any means, obviously it seems to be very beneficial! I just can’t get past the thought of it seeming so gross to me personally 😭🤦♀️

I think there’s been nothing but anecdotal evidence that this works. Once the placenta is dead it’s dead.

I honestly wish I knew about this with mine or was at least informed about the option

How much did it cost?

Anyone in the US do this? With little to no hassle from the hospital?

It is amazing! I did it with both my children and felt amazing postpartum! It helps w milk letdown, pain management, mood, and so much more! Its seriously highly recommended 👌

What is encapsulated ?

I had mine encapsulated last June upon giving birth. I decided to go with a local provider - a lovely woman who is professionally trained and this was amongst other services she provided all around pregnancy, child birth and PP. I'd highly rate her!
Obviously one could never say what their PP journey would have been had they not ingested their placenta and even previous PP periods could not be compared but is say money well spent, definitely!
I did not have any baby blues, felt very good soon after the birth (still made sure I rested a lot), energised and in good mood as much as I could with all the sleep deprivation. I also did not have much cramping while breastfeeding and bleeding wasn't bad at all, it ended in good time. ☺

sorry for this comment and i seriously couldnt..it freaks me out too much to even consider it.
I feel this is a huge social influence now. sorry not trying to be cruel to people who want to do this, just personally i couldnt

I did this when I had my son. Felt so good post birth. I had my daughter October 2020 and didn't get it encapsulated. Wish I did because never felt so low and rubbish. Will 100% be doing it again with the next baby. Money was too tight with my 2nd and covid restrictions didn't help either x

It helped me immensely.

I was planning to get my placenta encapsulated and had planned to for the longest, but I did some more research and reconsidered. There’s such little evidence that proves that consuming your placenta has significant health benefits. They say it’s more placebo. Also, consuming your placenta can be risky to not only you, but baby too (if breastfeeding). It acts as a filter while in utero. Let’s say you ingested an amount of vitamins that were ok for you, but slightly too much for baby- the placenta will filter the excess amount of vitamins, or even heavy metals. Same with being sick. It’ll fight off bacteria and protect baby. That bacteria could still be stored in the placenta when you encapsulate it. Eating it would re-expose you and the baby (if breastfed) to the harmful stuff it initially took away. Another thing, these companies that conduct encapsulation.. they’re not regulated by the FDA. How would one know if they’re actually getting their own placenta back..

Yes, it's counter-indicative if during pregnancy the woman was on medication for example or she had certain conditions. You do get asked about that beforehand. A healthy pregnancy (as mine) and a healthy mother is another thing.
Not everyone agrees with or trusts FDA regulations and after all some things will always remain outside of that framework which doesn't make them automatically dangerous.
I was very happy with mine!

I did and I have to say, I really regret not doing it the first time. I healed way better, felt less depressed, and they helped me with energy.

Which company did you all use??

Wow very cool

I plan on doing it but I’ve heard stories of doing it yourself so I’m going to find someone to do it for me who is trained in it. The one thing people told me what the smell when you do it yourself(dehydrate it at home) and I am so sensitive even before being pregnant that I can’t imagine doing it myself now 😅
But also my friends who did it for one and didn’t do it for another, said they noticed huge benefits especially with their PP energy levels and hormone regulation/mood balance etc.
Keep us updated on how it goes!

I didn't use thise company I use a different one but it worked really well helped my skin, hair and body feel like I wasn't lacking all the extra iron I was consuming before so I would do it again if I could and hope to finish off mine soon, I read that getting a common cold and taking them isn't advised so I paused mine alittle while because they just aren't sure what the effects would be in that time immune systems are weaker etc but the energy I day allowed me to not sleep for a day or two and clean like it wasn't a waste of energy

Also I am in Edinburgh too 🖐 I used Placenta Solutions, Johanne Sked who was amazing but feel free to message me if you have any questions or just to chat 😁

I did mines with my babygirl,..I’m currently still taking my pills ;)

I thought it the benefits have been amazing. Placebo or not, I’ve had more energy, amazing milk supply, no signs of baby blues or PND, the list goes on. I missed four days of capsules due to being in hospital and I can say that this had a massive effect on my mood.
I wouldn’t think twice about doing it again, although it’s not for everyone.

We encapsulated my first one! A fun experience, and great benefits!!

Thank you for posting this and all the comments it’s sooo informative

For the people who commented did any of you have group B. I know my doctor don't recommend it in general especially if there was any infections in the body.

I had mine encapsulated but actually stopped taking it as it made my milk supply drop. I popped them in the freezer and started taking them again when I got my period back (at 7months pp) and it helped heaps with the hormones.
