Sleep & tiredness

3 Tips for more energy !

I know that the month of June can be intense for parents and especially teachers (if June is your last month of teaching). The evenings are busy running to soccer games and we stay up late for our Oilers games! (Any other hockey fans here ?!) As the school year draws to a close (or summer holidays starting !), we all have a list of things to do before June 29/30.

So here are 3 tips to increase your energy so as not to be exhausted before or during the summer holidays!

  1. Get moving! When our body is moving, we wake up the brain and all the other cells of our body by oxygenating it. I have often noticed that a 30 minute brisk walk in the morning allows me to stretch my energy and even avoid having a second cup of coffee in the afternoon. The sun rises earlier now and can encourage us to take an early morning walk, jog or even just stretch to keep us energized throughout the day.

  2. Drink water 💦 Often when we are tired, we are actually dehydrated! A dehydrated body will actually be tired! It is essential to drink water. Do what it takes to encourage yourself. Maybe it's an alarm on the phone every hour to remind you, or add lemon to improve the taste or simply make a little daily challenge and add a check mark ✅ after each glass you have had.

  3. If after these two tips, you are still very tired, a naturally caffeinated drink made from green tea, guarana and B vitamins could help you stay awake and alert in the late afternoon to end your day in style ( or keep your eyes open during hockey games !)

So tell me, which tip are you going to try first?

What are you struggling with as a mom?

Yesterday I started crying when I realized I have not been sleeping for over 4 years.

I usually laugh it off when people ask me how tired I am. And I say something like, “Oh I’ve been running on no good sleep for 4 years, I’m fine!”

After talking with my doctor and discussing if she thought I might have ADHD because I feel like I’m so forgetful and loosing my train of thought. But with further discussion, she then asked me when the last time I had a good nights sleep. I can confidently say sometime in the first week of January as that’s the last time my baby slept through the night. And before then ? Must of been in 2019 before I was pregnant !!

Thankfully she explained I am most likely absolutely exhausted and deep in mom brain fog.

This motherhood journey is no joke. Some days are very hard.

Mamas, the ones holding it together by a thread, sleep deprived and all, I see you. And you’re doing amazing. Give yourself some grace and maybe you too think back to the last time you had a good nights sleep, and maybe prioritize your sleep today instead of doing the laundry.

What are you struggling with ?

Weekend plans

There’s no such thing as bad weather…

Only had clothes ! This Swedish (or was it Finnish?!) saying has totally transformed my mentality when it comes to going outside with the kids. Every single morning we walk to school drop off. Today, it was -27*C (no idea what this is in F!) but the sun was out shining and warming us ! We dress for the weather and we walk 10 minute to school. We all need this walk. To let go of the morning issues. To move our bodies to wake up. To burn off some energy (kids) To get more energy (me!) To build our relationship. To be in nature. To notice the world around us.

I would love to know, do you think there’s such a thing as bad weather ? What’s the temperature that labels bad weather ?

Pregnancy symptoms

Anyone with a sweet tooth ?

I know you may not believe me, but two years ago when I started using arbonne’s nutrition products, something happened to all of my sugar cravings… they disappeared!

I have had a sweet tooth for as long as I can remember. Five cent candies, chocolate bars, sweet popcorn, you name the sweet treat, I was all over it! I would have terrible sugar, cravings and binge anything sweet I could get my hands on. The only thing that had helped me be more selective over the past 12 years was my gluten and dairy intolerance. I was suddenly limited to what I could eat, but the cravings did not slow down.

Then arrives Arbonne’s FeelFit Protein powder, BeWell Greens, GutHealth, SkinElixir and EnergyFizz.

I swapped the protein powder I was using for Arbonne’s and started integrating these new supplements into my daily routine. Slowly my cravings started disappearing alongside the bloating and bad skin.

Not only did I have more control over my sugar cravings, but then when I had the urge and would take a bite of something sweet, I instantly found it too sweet and wouldn’t even finish it. I was amazed ! I had always had no self control around sugar, and now I was in complete control and could even ignore it ! Now when I have the occasional craving I make myself protein cookie dough, a strawberry shake or drink an EnergyFizz.

Tell me I’m not the only one… who else has a sweet tooth ? Drop your favourite dessert emoji if you do ! 🥮🍦🍮🍩🍪🍭🥧🍨🍧🧁🍰🎂🍫🍬🍡
