I just had my scan today and found out I have 9 eggs on my left ovary (5 good size) and bloody 28 on the other (24 good size)! This kinda sound good because last time they only got 8… but 28 on one ovary? Holy moly. I hope this doesn’t mean the quality goes down - does anyone know anything about this?
They also put the kibosh on my fresh transfer too - apparently I’m high risk because of hyper-stimulation? Has anyone had this before? What can I expect after the retrieval on Monday?

I’m not sure if it impacts quality or if that’s just dependent on how your eggs are in general. From the scans my dr could see about 29 and ended up actually getting 45, 43 which were mature. They froze half and fertilized half and we ended up with 9 embryos and 21 eggs in the freezer

So I don't know on the quality part but in preparation for overstimulation.... Stock up on electrolyte drinks and salty foods. That seems to be pretty standard recommendations for helping.
Maybe your doc can give you some meds to help prevent OHSS? I've heard of that both preemptive and after it's developed but have no experience.
OHSS sucks. It just does. For me, I was very bloated and in a lot of pain for a week, then the bloating went down which helped some but I was still in a decent amount of pain for another week and wasn't pain free until the end of week 3. I loved having an ice pack on my belly and slept in a recliner for the first week. I know others like a heating pad so maybe have both handy and try them both to see what feels good?
As far as I'm aware it doesn't often (or ever?) cause long term issues. I healed up after about 3 weeks and went on to have an ERA and successful transfer in the two subsequent cycles.
Best of luck on your retrieval and recovery!

Hey! I had 10 follicles on my left and 24 on my right. (I have PCO/PCOS)
So I was high risk of OHSS too.
They had me on a pretty low dose Menopur and actually my follicles were veeery slow to grow! And weirdly my right ovary with all the follicles just didn’t want to know and my left ovary responded better!
After 15 days on stims (longer than normal for short protocol) I had egg collection and got 15 eggs (13 mature). I did not get OHSS as I had a different trigger and a freeze all and didn’t get too many eggs in the end.
Too many eggs can affect the quality (especially if due to PCOS) but also means you have more chances of having good ones as there are generally just more eggs!
Good luck!
