I have 2 year old triplets, my middle triplet has a possible sensory disorder, we were not able to get in until late March to go through evaluation. In the meantime I'm losing my mind he screams about everything. From his brother looking at him to someone standing near him. It is constant and I've tried everything but I can just have him in a room all alone, I have 4 kids 4 and under. I just don't know what to do. Does anyone have any advice?.

Hi Elizabeth
I’m from the UK.
My god!! You’ve got your hands full there haven’t you?!? Bless you. I feel for you. It’s so hard isn’t it. I only have 1 kid and she has SPD and I’m pulling my hair out. So I can’t begin to imagine how hard this is for you.
I’m sorry you’re going through this.
My advice would be to try and really break his triggers down to pin point accuracy. His clothing/labels/hems/seams/sounds/volume of noise/people wearing certain items (hats)/colours/textures.
Maybe try him with some kids ear defenders to block some noise out, he may feel more comfortable then? Maybe create his own sensory area with a bean bag and soothing lights and try a weighted blanket.
There are certain foods that can help produce hormones that can help to calm him naturally. I’ll try and find a link for you. I know of warm milk, honey, bananas are good ones. Especially for around bedtime. Know you’re not alone and I’m here if you need to chat/scream whatever. Xx

We only have one child (currently pregnant with second) and our first is 2.5 and we have noticed he has sensory issues since infancy. We finally got some testing done thru a local program called north bay regional center. He definitely has sensory avoidance and anything can trigger meltdowns. It’s really difficult, I can’t even imagine having 3 other. I feel for you and you are not alone! Things that help us are having alone time in a bedroom, crunchy snacks, being left alone during a meltdown and sometimes we just endure the storm!
