Hi all, just trying to gauge your experiences with hydrosalpinx. I’ve had one discovered just as I’m about to start ivf round 2 and it is likely a complication from the laparoscopy I had for an ectopic in Nov 21. Current clinic said I can go ahead with egg collections whilst the hydrosalpinx is there but they would not transfer unless the tube was clipped or removed. How did your clinics deal with hydrosalpinx?

Hey lady. I actually just went in for an HSG to determine if I had hydrosalpinx. While I don’t (I have just about everything else wrong), I did ask my doc what the solution would be if I did. She said tube removal.
The issue with hydrosalpinx is that it can leak toxic fluid into your uterus and affect embryo implantation. This is likely why your clinic won’t risk your precious embryos being transfered.
If you’re uncomfortable with their solution- and yes, tube removal feels so drastic!!- maybe seek out a second opinion. But you’ll want to give your embryos the absolute best shot at implanting.
All the best of luck!! ✨✨

I'd wait to get it done before transfers vs before egg retrievals. Usually they remove the tube via a lap.

Hi! I had a Hydrosalpinx in my left tube due to an ectopic. My clinic wouldn’t allow me to start treatment until I’d had it removed! I ended up having both removed as the other was also damaged and started treatment with my next cycle which was successful! It’s definitely worth getting it removed, your chances decrease by so much if you leave it due to the toxic fluid so it’s really not worth leaving it in! Good luck x

Thanks for all your comments. I have no issue with getting the tube whipped out and in fact I'd prefer they take both out so I don't have another ectopic. I don't know if I can push to have both removed under my private healthcare if the other looks OK?
I am about to embark on selecting another ivf clinic but don't have my consult for another 3 weeks so wanted to gauge what others had done. I am wondering if my new clinic (crgh) will insist on removal before starting with them or if they are OK with egg collections but removal before transfer.

Sorry to jump on. I am too after experience or guidance…. I am on the waitlist for the surgery. Can you request for tube removal? The doctor has told me they may clamp. But I am worried there still may be fluid leakage even clamped?

Ask and see what they say. I don't like the idea of clamp/clipping as I believe the stump left behind can still fill with fluid.
I've now had mine done and got the tube completely removed but this was private.

Hey can you kindly let me know how much you paid to have your tube removed privately if you feel comfortable to share via messages 💕.

my operation was covered under my private healthcare and I also had some endometriosis removed in the same procedure.
I looked back at the invoices that were paid and it looks like it was around £4000 but I don’t know if that is what you would pay as a self pay patient
What did everyone’s pregnancy test look like at 4 weeks?? I’m 4 weeks 3 days and it’s soo dark compared to my other ones in my other pregnancy.

We already have the system in place, a petition has been started to see if we can use the emergency text alerts for missing children. Imagine if you could immediately have millions of eyes out and ready looking for your child if god forbid they go missing.

I need advice. I placed a Copper IUD in my home country as I was flying there for a gyno check up after giving birth. But I’ve had 4 menstrual cycles with it, and I’m bleeding like a river. Where do I call or request to take my IUD out and replace with the marine hormonal one?

Would you say this is positive? ChatGPT seems to think it is but I can’t tell

What has your experience been there? Did you find that as a private patient you were treated like an NHS patient?

Hello. Looking for any advice on what people have found works, to prep for collection and transfer? Whilst trying naturally I’ve been taking supplements and trying to prioritise fertility foods, I’ve been off caffeine and alcohol for over 6 months.. but nothing seemed to help. Wasn’t sure if there was ivf specific prep people swear by! Thanks
