Baths when pregnant?

Hello Hello!
Currently 6 weeks pregnant, and I’m learning about all of the things I can’t have or do. Now, I haven’t had luck in seeing a doctor yet, but prior to my positive results I used to drink, take baths, drink all my coffee, workout, etc. I’m taking it easy on working out until I’m cleared, obviously not drinking, and I learned recently NO BATHS.

I’m currently 24/7 nauseous, emotional as hell, insecure and completely taken over by my hormonal changes- (am I 13 again?)

Anyway, I can’t relax or treat myself (or atleast I feel like I can’t) and one of the ways I used to do that was my baths.. I LOVE me a bubble bath y’all…

Did you take baths throughout pregnancy?

Giiiiiiirll! Near the end of my pregnancy I NEEDED to have baths! 😂
I had groin/hip/ all over pain so baths helped a lot! I would just keep in mind the temperature of the water. But unless your told otherwise I would bathe on!

Avatar

I’ve taken baths my entire pregnancy, as long as you’re not sweating/ burning your skin with the water I’ve been told they are perfectly fine!

Avatar

Yea. It’s not supposed to be hot enough to make your skin red or raise your body temp but baths in general are fine.

Avatar

Baths are fine if they are not absolutely red hot, think of the people who only have baths in their house (I used to be one of those people ) you’ll be fine try not to think to much about what the guidelines of what people suggest you not to do you’ll end up going insane x trust your body

Avatar

I bought a baby bath thermometer and pop that in the bath. I try not to let the temp go above 38 but have baths most days and have been told as long as not boiling it’s absolutely fine

Avatar

You can have baths it’s the over heating yourself that does the damage just don’t sit in for too long xx

Avatar

Baths are perfectly fine to have as long as it’s not to hot to burn. In labour the midwives advise you to have a bath to relax and help with pain x

Avatar

My doctor said baths are a wonderful way to relax and relieve nausea and tension! You just need to make sure your core temp doesn’t rise above 101* F. The first couple baths I took pregnant, I used a thermometer to check my temp. After I figured out what the right temp was for the water, I take them all the time. It’s the only way to help myself feel better most times!

Avatar

You can definitely have bath, just don't boil yourself 😁

Avatar

Baths are fine as long as they aren’t too hot and raise your temperature too much!! I had a bath ever day during pregnancy 😊

If you worked out a lot before pregnancy you can still work out during. Girl I was so para at the start but now (36weeks) I couldn’t be without a bath everyday and I’ve never stopped drinking coffee. I would only have one coffee a day for the first trimester but after that I started back with loads of caffeine because needs must.

Avatar

I've been having baths to whole time, just don't get dehydrated :) and don't beat yourself up about drinking etc, I found out at 8 weeks on 6th Jan and the build up to and the Christmas break was heavy 👀 but baby is really healthy

Avatar

I’ve been taking my bubble baths like normal. However be careful if ur rly nauseous cuz the warmth might make that worse. I had a bad puke ssssion in the tub once due to that lol

Avatar

LOVE ALL OF THESE 🙏

• Will definitely be treating myself (safely) to this tonight. It’s been a long two weeks since we found out, and I’m so excited to feel relaxed

Avatar

I would take baths just like warm water. Not hot water.

Avatar

I had baths whilst pregnant, particularly towards the end - and boy were they needed! x

Avatar

I still did baths but they just weren’t as hot anymore. I was just told to avoid stuff like hot tubs because of the temperature and because of possible germs depending on how many others use them.

Avatar

Yes you can take baths! Some women take thermometers with them and double check their body temp to make sure it's not too high for baby. But that's up to you. Usually it's just saunas and hot tubs that get REALLY hot.

Avatar

Baths are okay as long as they’re not super hot ☺️ You can also still work out if you did it pre-pregnancy, just stay aware of your body and if you feel like you’re pushing it too hard just take it down a notch 😊 Also I still drank/drink coffee every morning lol I was advised to keep it to 2 cups/day (preferably not one right after the other, and two cups meaning regular sized coffee cups haha)

Avatar

Baths are perfectly fine but keep them warm instead of hot! Same rule for showers, but NO hot tubs. Your body can’t regulate temperature the same and it’s kind of the idea of cooking the baby 😬 as long as it’s just a warm bath and not hot you’re free and clear. I’d keep working out and stay in it as much as you can! I didn’t get that option because of other health things but Lordy what I’d do to have started working out in small amounts so I still could now…. I never watched soda intake and I treat myself to sushi and coffee on occasion! I’d start the prenatals and I know the anxiety is SO bad at first but you’ll probably be able to relax a little more. You learn what your body is okay with pretty fast and your instincts tell you what not to push.

Avatar

The problem with baths is they can't be hot you can't overheat your core or dehydrate so you can have a warmish bath just not one that will over heat your belly ....

Avatar

I normally like my baths SCALDING HOT. Then I got pregnant and read the same thing, devastating! My GP assured me as long as it's not raising my body temperature and I don't use essential oils directly in the water (diffuser is ok) it's fine.
I make them a little cooler now, which feels tepid to me but my partner promises me it's acceptably hot 😅

Avatar

I’m 9 weeks and I still take baths. As long as your core body temp doesn’t rise too high, you’re totally fine!

Avatar

The only reason they advise on not to have baths is because if the temperature is to hot it can make you light headed/ nauseous and faint, although I’ve stuck to showers as it’s way easier to cool down!

Avatar

SAME. My husband and I never enjoyed the whole romantic “shared bath time or shower” because apparently not everyone likes steam coming off their skin.. lol 😅 I’ll definitely need to bring a thermometer for safety, because my brain will tell me it’s fine, but of course I want to keep the little one safe.

I take lots of baths. There's only two things you need to worry about: 1. Bath water should be lower than 39-40 C. This is because the fetus can't control it's body temperature. If you increase your body temperature, it can cause damage to the baby. I got this thermometer from amazon and I keep the temperature around 38 C. It works really well and it's so cute!

2) make sure you don't get dehydrated. I add Epson salts to my bath and put some tea and a bottle of water next to me. If you don't put any salts in the water, then the salt will leave your body to enter the water. (Because salt crosses the skin barrier and balances in water. That's why the best way to absorb magnesium is to take a bath with Epson salts). Salts are the reason your body retains water so if you lose too much salt, you'll become dehydrated. This is only a problem if you take long baths or you take a bath everyday.

Yes take your baths! It will help so much with any pains you have. If you start getting too hot just empty it and put cooler water. Warm water never worked for my pain so I did and still do use hot water (33 weeks now)

You can still drink your coffee, just make sure it’s under 200mg of caffeine a day!

You can still work out! If you feel good enough physically to do it then do it.

Do not let pregnancy stop you from doing your normal stuff. You will feel much better without the fear mongering “rules” everyone has heard about pregnancy.

Be more cautious but you don’t have to stop most anything.

I was really sick in the beginning too through the 17th week. Best advice I got was eating small meals lots of times per day and when I woke up on the middle of the night I ate fruit snacks or gold fish. This helped wonders. I was still sick but it made it more bareable. Pedicures were clutch too. Something about someone rubbing my feet when I didn’t feel good was the best medicine

Baths are fine you just should keep the temp more luke warm vs hot. I’d die without baths lol!

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Hour night wakes and 5am get up

Can anyone shed some light as to why on earth my child doesn’t want to sleep??? My eyeballs are bleeding!!

Never been a good sleeper, but the problems always changing. He’s nearly 9 months old.

Beginning of the month he dropped to 2 naps. We could put him to bed at 7pm and he’d get up for the day at 6am, with multiple wake ups every 2/3 hours.

Now we put him down at 7pm, he can do a good 4/5 hour stretch, but come 1/2am he’s up every hour then getting up for the day at 5am. This then completely messes up the day because I can’t keep him awake long enough to even get to 7pm, let alone later.

He has 2 naps, roughly about 1hr10 each but it changed based on when he wakes and trying to get him to a reasonable bed time.

What could be the reason for this? 6am is fine, but 5am is not 😩😩

Crying during feeding

Hey mams! My girl is 6 weeks on Monday and is having so much trouble with feeding. It doesn’t happen every feed but more often than not she will start a bottle and just start crying as if she’s in pain and she can’t take the milk. I think it’s trapped wind but I genuinely don’t know what to do it’s so pitiful to see her not be able to feed! She’s formula fed and on HiPP Organic.
Anyone else been in this position? I’m pretty sure it’s just a bit of trapped wind that she needs to fart out but can’t! If anyone has any advice I’d be very grateful as I think I may need to tape my eyelids open soon 😂

No more naps! 10 month old

For a few days now my 10m old has fought her 2 daily naps. Normally her wake windows were 3-4 hours and she is now eventually napping after a 6 hour wake window. Today was only one nap, she skipped the second one. Used to nap like clockwork so I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? Also very unsettled most nights and doesn’t sleep well at all
