Hour night wakes and 5am get up

Can anyone shed some light as to why on earth my child doesn’t want to sleep??? My eyeballs are bleeding!!

Never been a good sleeper, but the problems always changing. He’s nearly 9 months old.

Beginning of the month he dropped to 2 naps. We could put him to bed at 7pm and he’d get up for the day at 6am, with multiple wake ups every 2/3 hours.

Now we put him down at 7pm, he can do a good 4/5 hour stretch, but come 1/2am he’s up every hour then getting up for the day at 5am. This then completely messes up the day because I can’t keep him awake long enough to even get to 7pm, let alone later.

He has 2 naps, roughly about 1hr10 each but it changed based on when he wakes and trying to get him to a reasonable bed time.

What could be the reason for this? 6am is fine, but 5am is not 😩😩

My boy is 10 months and we have recently transitioned to 2 naps and seeing a very similar thing. I’ve asked ChatGPT and they said it’s likely because of the transition and being overtired. So they’re saying to do an earlier bedtime for a few days to reset. I will give it another go but I did an earlier bedtime last night and no luck! Still up at 5 and multiple wakes! I get like 4-5 wakes before 12am so not even getting that long stretch! It’s so killer

Sounds like they after overtired by bedtime. When are the naps?

Mine's 9 months tomorrow and has been the same for the past week, he does have a cold though and his top teeth are nearly through. Some nights he's up 10+ times, others he only wakes twice. He's started waking around 5am too, but the past few nights I've just taken into bed with me and he's kind of settled again until 6:30.
He's been on 2 naps for ages though, he is not a fan of naps! My first was similar. Bedtime is usually between 6:30 and 7pm though. I try and make it so he isn't napping in the afternoon until 2pm sometimes a bit later. That way he's still ready for bed on time, but not too overtired. He is currently on a milk strike though, which I don't think is helping his sleep

My baby is almost 11 months. The transition from 3 to 2 naps is a very slow process, so you’ve got to do it gradually and somewhat slowly. for me 7pm is quite early bedtime, so if I was to change anything I would put back a short third nap before bedtime for couple of days and then start rotating days with two and days with three naps. For example the wake windows for this age are around 3 to 3:30 max. Then two long naps and one short even if it’s for 20-30 min and you have to wake them up. Once you bring the bedtime a little later they will start waking up at a normal time. When the baby starts doing that then start to spread up the day a bit more evenly and naturally it will come down to 2 naps. Hope it makes sense :)

Maybe start using a spreadsheet to see how much sleep is getting when are the wake times. Record it for at least 5 days and see how it’s shifting. So then you can total the sleep and wake time and see if he is getting what he needs for his age. Cause it could be the case the baby gets enough of sleep from 7pm or they are overtired. anyway it’s build around sleep pressure through th day.

This is exactly the same as me! What’s your milk and solids like (BF or formula) and are you cosleeping or own room yet? And is he feeding overnight / how often? And also how is he waking, screaming and hard to settle or fairly easy to settle? It depends on these factors to what could work to sort it out xxx

Do breastfeeding women “smell”

So I’ve never breastfeed I don’t even know what it’s like.

My child was in formula since day one of birth…
A few of my relatives have said that women who breastfeed have a smell on them…
Is that like a milk smell that they have?

Describing the birth…

If you are going to be rude or insensitive to others, don’t comment on this post.

if you gave birth via caesarean, would it bother you if someone asked if you gave birth “naturally or by caesarean” (nothing to do with whether you were medicated).

When I gave birth I always answered “vaginally” to others and they seemed uncomfortable 🤣 there was nothing natural about that shit show lmao

PPD please help

Hi, not expecting a diagnosis obviously but maybe just some opinions and or advice. I have a nearly 4 month old. I’ve been to my doctor re my mental health and they have told me to do a self referral for some talk therapy but it looks like it could take a few months. I’m really struggling but I don’t know if it’s a normal amount as a new first time mum or something more. I feel very low a lot of the time, crying most days but not every day, feeling isolated (no mum friends), feeling like I’m not enjoying being a mum as much as I hoped, missing my old life and freedom, struggling with patience and the constant crying and fussing, feeling like it’s Groundhog Day, jealous of my husbands life, feeling like I’m not doing a good enough job, worrying I’m not doing things well enough and it will negatively affect her, only feeling better when I have people with me who know about kids and can step in and help eg in laws etc. I have tried hard to work on being positive, I get out for multiple walks every day, I’ve joined a sensory class, I’m on this app but I feel like none of it is really working or doing much. I feel like I’m ticking boxes of things that should help but I’m not making any mum friends and honestly a lot of the time it feels like I’m masking. Sometimes I get so upset and cry and I can’t really explain why….

Pushchair Advice

After lots of research, shop visits and trying different options, we’ve narrowed it down to the Joolz Aer², Silver Cross Nia and Bugaboo Butterfly.

We’re looking for one lightweight pushchair that is sturdy enough for everyday use, easy to carry as we live somewhere with no lift, and practical for travel too. We’d really prefer not to buy multiple pushchairs for different purposes, so ideally we want something that can work from newborn through to later toddler years.

We have tried all 3 and I feel in terms of sturdiness, Bugaboo would be the most sturdy, followed by Nia and then Joolz Aer2. Aesthetically and colour wise, I do prefer the Nia design.

Has anyone used any of these as their main everyday pushchair from birth? Would love to hear your experience and recommendations.

Nursery

Hi, I am going to be a first time mum in December, at the moment we have a double bed in the spare room (which is going to be the nursery) my initial plan was to sell the bed, do people think this is a good idea.
Or during the night do you think it’s good to have in case baby won’t settle, and I can sleep in the spare room with him.
Preferably I would want to sleep in the same bed as my partner so hopefully won’t need it.
I just wondered what other people did?

Co-sleeping

I’m feeling quite guilty.. I’m exclusively breastfeeding and my baby is 10 weeks now, my husband is in the navy also which means me and baby alone most night. I’ve found myself just ending up co sleeping just because it happens, I feed then fall asleep and that’s how I sleep. When he was smaller and a new born or if me or if me and my husband are both in the bed I always prefer him and feel better with him in the next to me but when it’s just me is it okay to co sleep. Any tips on how to stay safe? I feel guilty because all my family hate it and the idea of it and I do too but non of them have ever breastfed.
