Do breastfeeding women “smell”

If it gets on my clothes I guess. I'm very sensitive to smell. I change my nursing bra everyday and I shower. No one in my family has said I have a smell.

Having breastfed for 5 had a half years, I think I would have been told if I smelt. Sometimes I think such things are said if someone is anti breastfeeding for whatever reason.

I can't smell it on others but I can smell it on me

My sweat definitely smells different during breastfeeding, it smells kind of sweet 🙈 so bizarre, my friend was the same xx

I EBF and think I stink of sour milk most of the time

Breastfed my son for 2 years, I just smell the same as I did before.

I think it’s possible if you aren’t showering or changing your bras when they leak it’s possible, but please do that! It’s standard hygiene.

I’ve never been told I smelled while breastfeeding, and I’ve never smelt my friends that did either.

What’s up with the no votes and the one sided comments? 😅😅😅😅 my pits definitely STANK when bfing especially early on, even after just showering. It’s literally by design, caused by hormonal shifts so that our newborns can recognise and find us haha my sweat was definitely much stronger then than it is now 😂 this is the first thread I’ve ever seen on this subject, where the women say they smelled like daisies 😂😂😂

Are they perhaps talking about the fact that babies can smell our milk? Because thats true. Doesnt mean breastfeeding people smell haha

I used to smell more while bf but I wouldn't say all bf women smell...

Combination of a slightly different sweat smell and also just a new hygiene issue - milk stains which also smell. You can use the pads etc to prevent it getting on clothes but it gets on your skin regardless, and who has time to shower between feeds

Yeah my sweat smelt different. Similarly to how I smelt when pregnant too. Hormones cause this.

Also breast milk leaks if your out sometimes which can cause a smell.

I’ve never really smelt it up close to a breastfeeding women but I can tell with myself.

I think there’s a change of smell that comes with changing hormones. It’s not necessarily better or worse than a “normal” smell!

It’s mainly in the first 6m I find the strongest. BF mamas release pheromones so baby can smell mama, mainly because their eyesight is blurry for the first 6m so they use their smell to identify mum and then find their way to the nipple. It’s pheromones. Also another reason- we carry so much excess water weight PP (swelling goes down heaps) and we sweat that out, which is why you’ll hear lots of mamas lose 20-30lbs in the first couple months. I didn’t “smell” but I def do smell like mum (different to daddy) to the baby. Baby took ebm bottles from daddy but not from me coz I smell like mum, mum has milk lol.

I felt like I always smelled like milk and when I’d get hot I smelled this rotten milk. No one else smelled it but I did. I also felt like my BO was horrible and I smelled like a cheeseburger as soon as I got out of the shower
