I have a tingling on my lip and I’m thinking it’s the start of a cold sore as has been the case in the past. Has anyone had this before?? How did you protect your baby from exposure? I don’t know how best to protect him. I’ve obviously stopped kissing him, but I was kissing him today before I felt this tingle. I’m worried about spreading this to him and exposure he may have already had. Is it overboard to contact the GP?
I’ll be getting patches tomorrow but want to make sure I’m doing everything I can, so if anyone has any suggestions thanks in advance!
I feel so guilty and awful that I may have exposed him. It’s second nature to kiss him now so I’m struggling a little and I’m worried I’ll slip up. I’m so angry I have to worry about this. Thanks to my grandma when I was young, I was exposed and now I have to deal with this. To those mummas saying no to people kissing their babies, keep saying no you’re doing what’s best for them!

I know it’s hard but try not to worry too much! This happened to me when my baby was 6 weeks old. I also kissed him before I felt the tingly too he was fine and I just wore a mask most of the time so it was also a reminder that I had it as I was worried I might forget and accidentally kiss him as it is so hard at times especially when you’re used to showering them in kisses. There’s no harm in contacting your doctor too for some reassurance? I didn’t but I just monitored anything unusual with him then I would’ve took him straight to hospital but luckily he was fine xx

Funnily enough my baby is two weeks old and when he was a week old I developed the biggest cluster of cold sores that covered half my lip and I had been kissing both children!.
I contacted GP in a panic as saw online you can get tablets which speed the healing process up? I got told go to pharmacist for patches/cream… helpful!
I ensured I wore patches that covered them all, day and night. Used gloves to remove and replace patches and scrubbed hands before touching baby especially waking up as I was unsure if I had touched it in my sleep!
I kept a close eye on baby and took his temp daily to make sure I wasn’t missing anything (and saw every cry, whimper or sleepy moment as confirmation he had caught it).
But a week on and it’s now all scabbed over and both children have had no symptoms so I can only hope no exposure!
Unless you kissed baby with an active pus blister.. the chances of exposure are extremely small so please try not to worry. Easier said than done I know! X

I developed a cold sore after giving birth from sheer exhaustion. Luckily I packed cold sore patches and cream which I started using straight away and I didn’t kiss my baby.
Is there anyone that could get the patches for you today? Sooner you start using them the better as it’ll get rid of it sooner.
Don’t touch babies face and don’t touch your face. Good hand washing is important either with warm soapy water or have a hand sanitiser on hand at all times.
Thoroughly sterilise baby bottles after feeds just incase you touched your face and then touched the bottle x

Yep same I was one of those babies who got kisses off my affected Nana then ended up with regular cold sores. However thank goodness I haven't had a bad attack of them for years. Mine tend to crop up when the seasons change. If I feel like one is coming I just apply a thin layer of cold sore cream or toothpaste to the affected area
What ages did your children share a room? I have a 2.5 year old who sleeps through the night no issues, and a 7 month old who currently still wakes at least once in the night and has a bottle, we have a 2 bed house so they will be sharing a room and some point but just wondering what ages people moved their youngest in with other kids !

When is everyone realistically thinking of putting their babies in their own room? I feel like we would all sleep so much better if mine was in his own room by now!

I gave birth 4 weeks ago and the delivery was difficult, my baby was in the wrong position and with the cord around her neck, but the midwife didnt check and got me to push for an hour with no luck. I then was taken to the operating room and had a forceps delivery with an episiotomy. Im now 4 weeks post partum and I am conscious of my intimate area as I can always feel it but its not exactly painful just not comfortable like it was before. A few days ago a midwife said my stitches look to have gone now and it looks healed but I know ill get it properly reviewed at the 6 week medical check. My husband and I do want to be intimate as its been a while now, but im conscious that my area doesnt look or feel the same as it did before and I dont know what it will be like when I do have sex again. Im curious what others experiences have been who have had an episiotomy.

My baby has had cradle cap for a few months, any recommendations on how to get rid of it? And should we be worried?
