Should I cut my sons naps to help him sleep at night?

I am a first time mom and my son is not sleeping at night. He is 17 months old and is in his toddler bed (he was climbing out of his crib at night). For the first 2 weeks he slept all night and had no issues. For the last week and a half he's been getting out of his bed and coming to us at 1 - 4am in the morning. I have spoken to alot of people and they all have suggested he stops napping during the day. I can't get ahold of his doctor to ask for help so I'm asking for support and some options here. He eats super well and is a very active kid. So should I stop giving him naps during the day?

Hey mama. So my son is the same age and has basically has had a sleep regression his entire little life hahaha. So I we don’t sleep. We meaning my son ans I. I am a single/ solo mom. My son does still sleep with me( blah blah blah. Don’t need any backlash from it from ransoms…not saying you. Just this is how I mom ) Buttt I don’t think you should cut out his napping. Remember they are just little people ans have very very busy days. You know how exhausted you can get after a long day. Imagine being their size and learning as much as they do. They need a little nap still Keep the naps. Maybe don’t let him nap past a certain time. I know that helps for me. Sometimes. It really is a guessing game hahah every child and parent is different 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️. Good luck ❤️❤️

It is up to you but I also work in childcare and do not recommend this. As it may sound like a good idea he still needs naps for his growing body and cutting them will make him miserable and extremely over tired then not making your nights any easier and possibly worse depending on how he reacts. It could be sleep regression and should go back to normal soon ish haha. If you want to try napping him a bit earlier in the day that may help a bit but more than likely it will be something that just needs to be rided out like teething (sorry) but as previously said that choice is yours. Hope this helps.

Thank you guys 😊. I'm just out of ideas and I've tried everything with him and unfortunately I'm up all day and all night with him by myself because my partner is the sole bread winner but I need a solution now because I'm starting a new job on Tuesday

Hi! I’m a sleep consultant :). Your son should have 1 nap / day until he is 3 years old so don’t stop the nap yet.

There’s a regression around 18 months old or 2yo but it could be also the transition with a toddler bed.

My child adopted the same behaviour just when he turned 17 months old and now he is 18.5 but it’s a struggle putting him to bed every night. We tried everything nothing works. It’s up to him if he wants to sleep on time or later.

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
