Is it actually possible?
I feel like an exhausted amoeba the size of a whale!

Hi Jayne, I want to believe weightloss is possible during menopause. I've put on so much weight it's embarrassing but this week I've cleared my fridge of all the rubbish and started on a low carb diet. Fed up with losing the same 7lbs over the last 18 months! Have a look at the Balance app which covers diet and nutrition x

Hi Paulette, such a nightmare isn’t it! I am exactly the same but I lose 7-10lbs and gain 8-12lbs.
I will most certainly have a look at the balance app. I also follow Dr Berg on you tube, and a few other ‘gurus’ for advice. Intermittent fasting and keto seem to be popular - but I think keto might be a bit heavy so a Mediterranean style plan might work. Forst thing needed is sleep! Do you sleep Ok?

Lost weight, cut out bread, drink black coffee, with lemon juice in it, small meals, lots veggies. Apple cider vinger helps as well, I'm sweet tooth, love chocolate, biscuts, watch how many I do have now, walking is the best.

Thanks Susan! I have red about black coffee and lemon, so it really works! Good news. I need to start on the ACV I do have it in the cupboard! I’m just a grabber - live on my own so in bad habit of snacking on crap and not eating proper meals as cooking for one is rubbish. I am changing that mindset xx

Mediterranean is the best I think, keto is too restrictive and difficult to maintain. Most nights I get off to sleep OK but never wake up feeling refreshed. At the beginning of the week I felt so rough after a couple of late nights and after sleeping for 10 hours I felt much better. I'm going to look up Dr Berg later when I get home x

I am so glad you feel better after a good nights sleep. Horrible to be sleep deprived isn’t it. Dr Berg is very keto focused but I do find him very interesting too. Xx

you go Jayne I understand everything your saying I’ve started comfort eating bloody cakes enough is enough I will find the motivation very soon pmsl xx

I just ate a mince pie! Not only do I feel bad it was not nice either. Given myself a good talking to! Xxx

I’m now in the position of needing to lose 15+! I seem to gain weight just thinking about food!

So hard isn’t it!
And haha yes I know what you mean, see food, think of food, smell food - gain weight lol let alone eating the stuff xx

Yes it's harder but switching it up helps. I do the ww app and switch to keto.

It’s so hard isn’t it ladies! Absolutely hate being this size. Went shopping today and it was depressing!
I love yoga so will restart that! Glad it’s giving you zennnn Jacqueline. If I fond any miracles I will certainly share! Xxx

Hi Sara Hi Melissa,
This weight gain is just awful. I have put on 10lb in a couple of weeks and I have not been excessive with anything!!! Feel like I have a football on my tummy. Hate it. So can completely relate. I was doing keto but my eight stuck, I have to say though I felt good, had energy and was losing size, but I was still stupid and stopped.
Keeping motivated is hard. I hear that affirmations/thinking thin works but i guess to make it work you have to really practice it xx

My best weight loss is when I keep a diary and have a meal plan for the week. I use the MyFitnessPal app to track my macros and calories. You can input individual ingredients, select a meal from the app or create and your own meals. When I'm eating I remind myself to not have any distractions, I either eat at the dining table or on the sofa with the TV off. If I use my phone I put down my fork, deal with the incoming message/call and then go back to my meal. Better still put the phone on silent. EVERYTHING gets tracked, even a boiled sweet, might sound tedious but it becomes second nature after a while. Track before or immediately after each meal/snack and then at the end of the day you can see what exactly has gone into your mouth. Make yourself accountable, tell you're closest friends and relatives you're watching your weight so when you decline seconds or that piece of cake they'll know why. Be wary though, you'll be surprised who amongst your nearest and dearest will try to sabotage your plans!

That’s amazing advice thank you so much Paulette! I am taking it :) really appreciate the share!
And I have had all sorts of problems with sabotages. One so bad it needed our friendship. Apparently I’m boring for not drinking and stuffing my face with her. Bye bye lol!
Xx

I used to have a friend like that as well. I can remember I met her one day to go to the cinema, she turned up with a cheeseburger and chips! I always wondered why she couldn't have eaten before we met and she actually confessed a few years later that she was deliberately trying to sabotage my efforts. Before her confession we always started the same weightloss plans together such as Lighterlife and Cambridge and I always tolerated her snidey remarks how I always lost more than her. Her weightloss was less because she cheated.
It was her jealousy and bithchiness among many other things why we are no longer friends, I don't need that kind of negativity in my life

So bad isn’t it, bad, and sad. But her loss and not yours! Well friendship loss - you list the lbs. I did lighter life years ago it was fab! I lost 6.5 stone! I have never put it all back on but I’m creeping closer and closer. Tried cambridge too but I really struggle with energy on it.
Big hugs Paulette I hope you’re surrounded by good people now

I did fantastically well on Lighterlife but tried it again about 18 months ago and it really upset my stomach 😳 Tried Cambridge a couple of weeks ago and I felt like death warmed up 😂 So now I'm doing keto, it's hard to maintain but I'll "loosen" it up a little over the weekends. I have a LOT to lose and I blame it on lockdown 😂😂😂

We have the same path Paulette lol!
I need to get back on keto it does seem to make the most sense! Xxx

Hi Jayne, I am a fitness instructor who has qualified in Menopause Fitness also. Introducing some weight and resistance training into your lifestyle will help. Short workouts (15-20 minutes) most days will be a great way to help burn calories x

Erin thank you so much for the advice! I need to get active. I have fibromyalgia so find it hard to recover but I can do 15/20 mins :) xxx

Short workouts are much more achievable for most people. Find something you enjoy and you'll feel a big difference in your mental health too. Walking is also very underrated xx

I have fibromyalgia as well, I'm convinced it's linked to the menopause. I am a member of a gym but haven't been in months. I'll take Erin's advice with short workouts as well, see how I get on. The gym staff will be so shocked to see me! Keep in touch, let me know how you get on x

....as I sit here eating a half bag of marshmallows.

Hi ladies, I’m new here, have gained 2.5 stone in a year! I feel huge and so unfit, started patches and tables 6 weeks ago and they have helped with flushing but I’m sure I’m gaining more!

I gained lots of weight and the only thing that works for me is intermittent fasting.. I do the 16:8 which means I only eat within an 8 hour window.. I have 3 meals per day.. Normally eat my first one 11am or 12 then stop eating 7 or 8pm... Seen a huge difference my belly fat has disappeared... Also, helps yo rest my gut... I avoid sugar, dairy.. I love cakes but once I start eating cakes that's me.. Good luck

Today is the day! I've cleared my fridge and cupboards, will plan a menu for the week and go shopping later. Jumped on the scales, weight wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but it's still not good. Keto lunch, light dinner later and lots of water and black tea in between ... together with intermittent fasting I am going to smash this. Fed up with my current weight and fed up with feeling exhausted all the time
