Misdiagnosed miscarriage!?

Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation? From the first day of my last period I’m 8 weeks pregnant. I had a private scan as had some concerns as I started spotting and the early pregnancy unit wouldn’t see me. The private scan showed nothing, they advised it was most likely a miscarriage based on my dates. I shared the news with the early pregnancy unit and they wanted to see me. They did me a pregnancy test (positive), took my blood and did me an internal scan. The internal scan showed what may be a very early pregnancy as they saw what could have been a sack. I was asked to have blood tests every other day and my hcg levels should have doubled between each visit. On Christmas Day they called me back in to hospital to tell me my levels were plateauing and there was no way my pregnancy was viable and was 60% chance of miscarriage, 40% chance it was ectopic and to hope my levels drop rapidly and miscarry naturally and if not would need intervention to remove the sack. The doctors called me at 23:20 the other night to tell me I needed to come in urgently for another scan as hcg still plateauing and they wanted to double check as likely to be ectopic. The following day my scan showed a pregnancy measuring at 5+4 and they have booked me for another scan at the end of this week to check the pregnancy is growing as it should and there should be a heartbeat by then. I’m so confused how I can be told I am 100% not going to have a viable pregnancy based on my hcg levels and best case I will miscarry naturally, but then a couple of days later have development and a yolk sack and baby measuring 5+4!? Obviously I’m not getting my hopes up but wondered if anyone else had a similar experience of this? I had a miscarriage in November so this has been very hard for us thinking we may be going through the same thing again

Urgh I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this. They don’t make it easy do they. I had what’s called a missed miscarriage-I was scanned at what I thought was 5/6/7 and 9 weeks I think… and I had all the symptoms, a yolk sac, positive pregnancy tests and hcg levels all fine. I’m not saying this is what it is at all, but it could be. The way we knew ours wasn’t viable is that it wasn’t growing at all from 6-9 and by 9 they should have really seen a heartbeat. Also I’ve heard so many stories where some scans -eg private say one thing and NHS says another. I’d make sure you have more than enough scans to confirm. Fingers crossed for you and I’m so sorry about your previous mc too xxx

Thanks for your reply, I think the next scan will tell really but I’m concerned about my plateauing hcg levels and they don’t want any more bloods now just another scan. It’s been such a confusing time! Sorry for your loss xx

Sounds like it could be a missed miscarriage. I also had one. Had my first scan at 8 weeks but only measured 6 with no heartbeat. Went back after 1 week and still measured 6 weeks with no heartbeat. My hcg was at 20,000 and positive tests. My body hadn’t registered that the pregnancy was lost. See how this scan scan goes! Your dates could be off. Best of luck and I’m sorry you’re going through this! 💓

Hey I went through a similar thing last month, but unfortunately mine ended in bad news again last week when i went for clarity(third time in a row) I complained about the private clinic and they've shut down temporarily and replacing all there old equipment and staff and gave me a full refund like that mattered. I spent all of Xmas and New years in limbo untill last week. But after My private scan on the 22/12 with the dreadful news we had one at the epu on 27th and said theres a heartbeat but sac is so small for hoe many wks I was meant to be so had to go last wk for a rescan and yeah. So sorry ur going through this all. X

Bump at 7 weeks

Does anyone else have a baby bump early? I'm sucking in to rule out any bloating in the picture.

Mucus plug

I began to lose pieces of my mucus plug yesterday. Today I’m pretty sure the whole thing came out. I’m a bit worried as I’m only 37 weeks.

How soon did you go into labor after losing your mucus plug?

Suspected Food Poisoning

I'm currently 28 weeks and away on holiday. Yesterday I made the mistake of eating a hot dog from one of the all inclusive trucks that are dotted around the pool areas (I know dumb choice). After about an hour I got super nauseous and uncomfortable. I tried to rest it off but it just lingered, I felt lethargic and went down for some dinner, I got as far as eating two pieces of cucumber and I couldn't put my finger on the feeling but my stomach was uncomfortable and I felt like crying - I didn't feel well at all. After attempting the third bit of cucumber I darted for the toilets as I felt sick or maybe needed to open my bowels (which I already had an hour before and it was normal). Anyway, turns out it was both. I vomited a large amount and went to the toilet multiple times. I cleaned myself up and sipped fresh water for a couple of hours before going to sleep. I also managed an orange and a couple of dry non sweet biscuits. I haven't visited the toilet overnight again but my stomach does occasionally get a wave of nausea. Baby has been active all evening through this, was active at night for a bit and seems to have started some wriggles this morning. Do I need to go find a hospital/maternity unit and get checked or do I just wait and see how I feel today? I'm hoping being able to hold something over night is a good sign. I also have gestational diabetes so am a little worried about my blood sugar dropping or not keeping it steady. Any advice would be appreciated.

I was due on April 2nd and baby boy arrived at 39 weeks after a positive induction on gas and air, too late for an epidural and 48 minutes in labour. 💙

Bleeding at 9 weeks postpartum

Hi I’m not sure what the best thing to do is, I stoped bleeding around 6-7 weeks postpartum and my doctor told me if I kept bleeding past 7 weeks I needed to get an ultrasound.

The bleeding completely stopped around 7 weeks so I thought it would be ok. It came back now and looks like dark red blood? It’s like a light period enough to fill a pad after a few (3-4) hours but not super heavy.

I’m exclusively breastfeeding but could this just be the return of my period ? I was really hoping it wasn’t going to come back this early haha. I don’t have cramps like I used to and it’s definitely not as heavy as my period used to be. It’s been going for 2 days now… I know your period changes after birth sometimes so could just be that.
