Due in March and still no name. We have decided on a girl name Liana Rose long ago and want to use it if we are ever having a girl. Our favourite baby boy name is Liam, but I feel like it’s a bit too similar. Other names we like is Vincent, Romeo and Luka. Husband is Irish and I’m Finnish so would have to work in many different languages. He likes more traditional names and I would love some more unique ones (love Atlas, Caspian, Enzo… but too ‘unique’ for him). Would really appreciate any help ❤️

Learn more about our guidelines.Liana and Luka would be a lovely match if you want to keep the same initial. Have you considered Leo or Louie? 😌
@Courtney yea we love Luka and Leo, but have friends with both names 🙈 one other option we love is Levi, but again goes closer to Liana in terms of pronunciation 🤔
Liana Rose is a beautiful name and I totally have your taste as well with Atlas, Caspian and Enzo and I too had a partner that felt those were too "unique"! Although i love Liam, vincent and Romeo so he does have a willing spirit i think :) So I can totally try maybe even with a bunch of nos you get closer.
On my list we could agree on some unique and some traditional
Beau
August "Gus"
Grady
Oliver
Oscar/Oskar
Casey
Lennon
Skylar
Dean
Mack
Freddie
@Jordan love these as well ☺️ really like Beau - do you know if there is any other spellings for it (in Finland where we live people might struggle with this one) - need to also ask about Lennon
@Mira I totally understand needing something that you need names that both cultures can pronounce- what about extensions of Beau in other forms that have "Bo" as a nickname?
Bohdi
Just Bo even?
Bowen
Boden
Boaz
Even Boone "Boo" idk if any of these have a cool sound from the finnish perspective?
So cool btw and definitely should be considered- not just the irish side! Lennon and Liana are like SO cool to me :) Good lucky
I really like Vincent with Liana!
I'm Finnish and my partner is Australian and we are struggling with boy names as well! Some names that I like but won't be using because my partner doesn't like them or because they are too "common" for my taste:
Levi
Arlo
Eelis
Casper
Noah
Samuel
Sebastian
Leo (number 1 name in Finland at the moment haha)
So hard to find names (especially boy names) that sound good both in English and Finnish!!
Btw when I say common, I mean common at least here in Australia, not sure about Finland. I work in child care so there are so many names I can't use because I know too many kids with that name 😅 including Noah, Theo and Luka/Lucas. All those names were on my list before I started working in child care and realized how popular they are here at the moment haha
@Annika so nice to know there is someone who knows the struggle of trying to find names that sound good in both Finnish band English 😅 love these suggestions as well - definitely send more from your name list if you have any 🥰 any favourites you guys are deciding from?
And yea - girl name list has about 15 good names on it we both like and for some reason boy names seem so much harder to find 🙈 (fun coincidence - me and my husband actually met when we both lived in Australia)
Liana Rose & Romeo Vincent would sound amazing!
Romeo is unique & Vincent traditional, together they look perfect 😍
@Mira At the moment the only boy name we both like is Caspian and while I like it I don't "love" it if that makes sense. I also like Oscar and Anton. And we're the same, I've got soooo many girl names on my list that I love and could see myself using but no boy names that like "pop out". We're finding out the gender in about two weeks and I'm kinda hoping it's a girl only for this reason 😂 Would make the naming process so much easier.
Also just a thought, if you really like Liam I would just go with it. Liana is beautiful but you don't know if you'll ever have a girl and if you have a lot of other girl names on the list it might be easier to pick another name if you do end up having a girl one day 🙂
@Annika awww that’s scan is going to be exciting - one of my favourite days so far this pregnancy ❤️
And definitely I agree - would be silly to not use a name for a boy ‘in case’ we one day have a girl 🙈☺️
Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy 👶🏼
@Annika and I absolutely love Caspian, Oscar and Anton and all sound great in both places 🤩
