When do you call your doctor to say you're pregnant?

Hi I don't know how things work in the US. I used to live in Scotland and there you only (may) get to see a midwife for questions around week 8 and a scan at week 12, no ultrasounds, blood tests, anything else before that. How does it work here? When do you start seeing your obgyn??

You can call your Obgyn to confirm that pregnancy and they’ll take it up from there.

It’s somewhat similar, my regular doc said to wait for an appt until about 8 weeks then get established with an ob/midwife after that and go from there. I think that’s just for like standard uncomplicated pregnancy, if you have a history of mc or complications they’ll see you sooner! That’s just my experience though!

This is my 2nd baby I called the day I got my positive test I have my first ultrasound at 8weeks an go from there

Yea in the US you can call as soon as you get a positive, that’s what I did with my first. Since I had a miscarriage this second round of TTC, I’m waiting for my serial HCG test to come back with the expected increase before scheduling, just for my own mental health. Then I can schedule the viability scan for 7 or 8 weeks with my OB.

Thank you, everyone. I called today and indeed got an appointment at week 8 scheduled.
