Aspirin before a C-section?

I've been taking aspirin throughout my pregnancy and am booked for a C-section next week. I had my last midwife appointment yesterday and forgot to ask whether I need to stop taking it for a certain amount of time before the C-section. My midwife is really bad at responding to messages and calls so I'm not convinced she will get back to me. I wondered if anyone else had been taking it and been advised to stop before the c-section? Thank you!

I was advised to stop taking it at 36 weeks (3 weeks before my c section). As it thins the blood, they don’t want your blood too thin for the operation. It was my consultant who advised rather than my midwife, so not sure if there’s someone else you can check with?

thank you! I've only got 5days until my C-section 😬 I will try and contact the hospital to ask my consultant. Thank you !

I stopped at 36 weeks due to having a csection...but that's only from information I read online. I'm having mu csection today. But my midwife did tell me to take all the way up till due date.xx

oh wow luck for today ! How exciting!! I just rang the hospital and they said to just stop the night before but now I don't know whether to just stop now. Decisions !

@Vanessa weigh uo the pros and cons for you. For me I was only on aspirin due to my mum recently having blood clots and I have a high bmi. So I just weighed that up . Baby has been fine etc and I had a scan and blood flow is all good to cord etc. I also have low iron so blood loss is something I was worried about xx

I’ve been told to take it the night before 🤍 good luck xx

I was told to stop a week before xx

If your booked CS next week, Anaesthesiologist should have called your for Pre-Op plans this week. You need to tell them if your taking any sort of medications especially aspirin. If you cant contact your midwife. You need to inform the hospital right away.

Different hospitals actually have different opinions on this! My hematologist (Guys & St Thomas) advised the hospital I was giving birth at (East Surrey) to keep me on aspirin throughout because of my blood condition. Typically they would have had me stop as soon as labor began

My gp, midwife and consultant all told me to stop aspirin at 36 weeks 🙂

My midwife told me to verify with consultant, I need to do that this week. They may not know as it's outside their remit and don't prescribe it to begin.

I'm booked in for my section on Wednesday and I've been told to stop taking aspirin 24hrs before xx

I'm booked for Wednesday as well and they told me the same yesterday. Good luck tomorrow. I can't believe we can say it's tomororw !

Health

Going incognito mostly because I am actually embarrassed 😂
I need to start being more active, I used to be so on the go but now I have zero motivation and no energy.
I have type 2 diabetes and I am trying to reverse it before it gets worse, my diet and exercise is horrendous as I just go for quick and easy, I do need to start really prepping food, I have tried calorie counting but end up getting stressed and just giving up and exercise wise I need someone to give me a push and hold me accountable in doing it but my partner is not the best with helping with things like this as he eats like a child and is physically active in work so when he gets home he doesn’t want to work out.
I need help, I was recently told my cholesterol and stuff are high and my diabetes has gone worse since having the baby and having a lot of meds stopped.

I’m crazy.

My husband left his phone in the living room last night so when I got up this morning to make our coffee I was trying to be a lil nosey… I know it’s a huge possibility it’s just a spam thing but like I did not want to see another bitches name on my man’s phone this morning.. 😅

Measuring behind

Hi everyone, I went for a private scan last night in which I was told little bub was measuring around 8weeks however I thought I was 9w2d. I know it’s not a huge difference but is this normal with the early scans? I know it’s harder to see things properly before 12 weeks and she explained that they tend to under measure at early scans but just wanted to see if anyone had this experience and everything was fine?

When is ‘too’ early?

29 weeks on Friday and I’m waiting for a scan at 32 weeks on the 30th of April to see if my low lying placenta has moved, if not it’s looking likely I’ll need a C section. But in most cases, placenta will move! However, I’ve just put my first load of baby washing on🫣I couldn’t resist! Is it too early?
