Postnatal retreat near London

I can’t seem to find any postnatal retreats anywhere except for several that now are closed. I’m looking for a type like .Boram in NYC with midwife on site but it seems England is so far behind on these services ☹️ Maybe someone knows more places 🙏

I haven’t heard of them before but what a great idea. I think postnatal care is backwards here, just a rush to get back to work and pre baby body and no mention of rest and rehabilitation after the huge event our body has been through. Sorry to be no help but if you do find anywhere please share. Might be worth mentioning on midwife and birth doulas group x

What an excellent idea this would be! I’ve never heard of one but wow, could I have used something like this after my first daughter was born. I’m very scared that history will repeat itself and my PND will return. However as a second time mum, I feel slightly more confident in my ability and will speak up when needed. Perhaps some Mummas who are interested in this could come together and arrange a weekend together, to support one another, creating a safe space to be open with our struggles and feelings? xxx

I could be wrong but I think The Portland hospital have something like this- just had a client from Qatar who had her baby there and she mentioned she was there for 10 days.

@Diana thank you, I will check!

If anyone wondering what I’m talking about just like @Sarva and @Lauren. These type of hotels are hugely popular in Asia. Best ones probably in South Korea and China. And it’s not just a few days either but 2 weeks to a month! There are lots of videos on YouTube that make me truly jealous 😭 And my friend in New York is staying at one right now - and it’s great.

This is the only one I found in UK so far https://andbreathewellbeing.com But it’s basically normal hotel with Pilates and fitness without specialists staff and no midwives.

@Diana I’m sure they have it but the cost must be crazy 😂😂 I called them 2 months ago cause I was very sick I needed 24h care, they told me that it will cost 4K per night 😨

Hey ladies such a wonderful concept.. not done in the UK effectively because we have the NHS something I’ve thought about during my pregnancy based on something my dad actually said to me about the first 40 days postpartum… which got me thinking how much would your pay for a service like boram? It’s an amazing concept I do believe this should just be a standardised thing but understand constant care cost money to provide so what would be the maximum amount you would pay for 3 days /7 days / 40 days? ❤️

Specific postnatal retreats are not done in the U.K., great idea and popular elsewhere as others have said, but very expensive and not accessible for all. Gap in the market for a hotel to offer something like this. However, private hospitals do offer their patients the option to stay afterwards (Portland, the Kensington wing etc) but again, incredibly pricey I can imagine. NHS wise, I won’t be leaving the hospital until I’ve seen someone about breastfeeding support and then also they do follow up visits or ask us to bring baby back in. So, the right minimum level of care is in place for all. My “postnatal retreat” will be with my mother and husband at home! They better be prepared to pamper me! 😂

@Aahliyah so in HongKong the price for a really good hotel for a whole month is £6k-£14k I think it’s very realistic especially since they provide full cratering and baby facilities.

And also big hotel names like Ritz, Four seasons, Sino hotels, etc are doing those month postpartum care. 🥺

If my husband could have moved his job location i would have gone to Hong Kong to the rest of his family. But since the flight is dangerous in late pregnancy and with a newborn- it’s not an option.

@Aisling yeah I’ve looked in Portland and it’s incredibly pricey. £6000 for a few nights in London or a whole month elsewhere ☹️ and the facilities are not even included!

Postnatal retreat 😯🥹

@Maria uhh yes it’s incredibly pricey, I just remember she mentioned it. She was very wealthy I know, good for her 😅 Maybe look into a private room in your choosen hospital, it was under £200 in Greenwich borough/ Queen Elizabeth Hospital and you can stay as long as you are not comfortable to go home- I know it very different what you actually looking for but in the Uk there is not much options

@Diana thank you! That’s probably the only realistic way.

Picking this chain back up as the most fulfilled mama back from honestly the most unbelievable postpartum retreat with The Tenth who are situated in the Mandarin Oriental on Hyde Park. Round the clock midwife care, holistic practitioners, therapists, councillors, pelvic floor specialist - everything you could ever dream of. I went just a week postpartum but there were other mamas there who were much further down the line and just yearned for proper sleep and hands on baby support whilst they recieved some v deserved downtime. Honestly can’t recommend enough. Especially with gorgeous but busy toddler at home - this really allowed me time and space to allow baby no 2 a soft landing and to bond. It’s not cheap but way more affordable than prices mentioned here. Tallying up the suite and treatments alone more than pays for itself let alone all the hands on expert midwifery support!
