Hi all. I’m trying to plan a holiday before my first baby arrives at the end of Sept. The only week I can really go is when I’m 29 weeks pregnant in July. I was just wondering if people think that’s too late to fly? I’m looking at Majorca, which is only a 3 hour flight for me. Given this is my first baby, I’m obviously nervous and have no idea how I’ll feel by then! Any advice would be great thanks 😀

Thanks so much Abbie! 😁 I’ve been reading about getting a fit to fly letter so would make sure to do that!

I travelled when I was 28 weeks pregnant (Paris) make sure you inform your travel insurance company how far along you will be as some won't cover if you were to go in labour when abroad. Wear travel socks on the plane they are a god send 😂 I didn't need a fit to fly letter but again it depends on your airline.

Great thanks Claire! Yes will definitely get some travel socks too 😁

I went to Majorca at about same time as you had a great time just watch the heat and check if you need to get a fit to fly thing signed for the airline by a doctor as I needed this (though no one asked for it)

thanks so much! Good to hear 😁

im reminiscing now, it was a lovely chance to have a last holiday before baby (had mine Sept last year). Have a wonderful time!

I travelled from London to Edinburgh when I was 28 weeks and really struggled with fitting into the seats and being sat down in a confined space even though it was only about an hour. I was very agitated by the time we landed and it took me a few days to recover. I decided I wouldn’t be flying after that!
Mind you, it might have been because I was travelling for work rather than a holiday which may have made all the difference!

great to hear! All these comments are really helping put my mind at ease 😁

I came to Scotland when I was 34weeks pregnant. Just make sure you are feeling ok before flying. Enjoy your holiday 🙂

I went to Spain 34 weeks pregnant, perfectly fine. Compression socks are great for flight comfort, but should be no problems! Enjoy x

I flew to the east coast (5 hours), went on a roadtrip through the states for five days, and then flew back home at 32 weeks! As long as the dr approves it you shouldn’t have any problems!

We went to Paris (from Germany) when I was 33 weeks and it was very doable, we did book everything with flexible cancellation though just in case :) you might need a letter from your ob/ midwife that you’re still able to fly. We personally went by car 2x6h) but at an airport you might get even more movement than sitting in a car :)

It’s absolutely fine, just remember some companies will ask for a fit to fly certificate (ryanair from 28 weeks for instance) check the policy for the one you are using and try to at least walk in the plane once so you are not still for 3 hours and enjoy your holiday in Mallorca 😍
