Travelling with formula

Any recommendations on a good flask for water for formula making out and about? I want it to last a good few hours!

Any advice on how to make up a feed and getting it to cool outside would be really helpful too.

Get the bottles that store the formula separate from the water, you push the side and the formula falls into the water.

I just use my thermos for warm water (make it a little hotter than what you usually would make it!) and then I used a snack container with separate compartments for the bottles! Packed the empty bottles separately!

I’ve got a hot water flask from Amazon and then a rapid Nuby cool flask. My little boy has 6oz so I put 2oz of hot water in the sterilised bottle then add formula powder and stir then add 4oz of cool water from the Nuby cool flask and shake. It’s quick and easy to do 😊 if you want me to send you the link the the flasks let me know 😊

I got a normal flask from Amazon it tells me the temp, I can send a link if you want. I also then have the nuby rapid cool and to the same as

yes please send! What if you need to make up more than one bottle for a travel? Do you just take a bigger flask and cool the water in the Nuby again as many times as you need to make formula?

Avatar

will do. The hot flask will be enough for around 4 feeds as you aren’t using a lot of hot water but but Nuby flask holds 2 feeds for me. They Nuby is quite expensive so if I was you I would just buy 2 normal flasks and put hot water in one and cold in the other and you can get 1 litre flasks which will do more feeds x

I use the nuby rapid cook and the flask that came with the set and it keeps it hot for hours I brought a flask of Amazon which tells you the temp but as soon as you open it it looses all its heat where as the nuby one is still steaming a good 8 hours later I use it through out the day when home aswell saves boiling the kettle all the time and waiting for it to cool

do you keep the boiled water in the nuby flask?

The tommee tippee flask is amazing! 😘 my sister and friend used theirs religiously when out for bottles and food pouches, they would pre-make a bottle and leave it to cool, using it when out by heating it in flask-

I have both tommee tippee and nuby rapid cool 😘

The Thermos flask is also good as my partner uses it for work- water stays hot for 12hrs+ 😘 x

The nuby rapid cool will be perfect for me to use during night feeds alongside my boiling flask 😘 bottle will be ready at perfect temp within a min or 2.
Only need to add water to nuby rc aswell, and leave a hotshot of water in baby bottle- this will aterilise and kill any bacteria within the formula powder- usually leave around 1oz/1 and half oz of hot shot to formula 😘 then top rest of baby bottle with the nuby cooled down water 😘 xn

We travelled in January to two destinations and I just prepared the bottles. So if my son was drinking 4oz of formula, I’d already put 2oz of cooled boiled water in the bottle and when he needed a feed I would add the thermos water. He wastes a lot of formula as I only give as top-ups but this way your thermos water will last a lot longer. Also took the formula dividers with us.

We used honey Holly flasks for both cool and hot. They're amazing x

yeah the one that came with the set where you got two rapid cooks and a grey flask x

@Sarah thanks! Do you have to wait 3 hours for the water to dry in the Nuby Rapid Cool before you next use it?

Not drinking

I’m going crazy. Baby born at 2.26kg. Slow to put on weight. This last week hasn’t put on any. Been trying to feed him at night and he’s not interested at all. Fast asleep. During day he will have 5 minute gulps and that’s it. He don’t cry for milk. I’ve got to keep offering to him. I try to offer it every hour but I don’t know what I’m doing. HV said nutrition comes after 5 minutes so I should pump first and then give him. I find it so hard. I tried to pump one boob nothing came. The other abit came. Tried giving him express he’s not interested in that too. Sometimes he will go for a longer a feed but not long at all. He’s 4 months and is currently 5.46kg. I have no family or friend support here and wish I had a cook, cleaner and nanny to help with everything so I can concentrate on the little one. I don’t know what’s wrong with him but I’m loosing it. It doesn’t help that my also stressed generally about my relationship and life circumstances. Any advice that will work. Any comfort you can give. I’m fed up. Is this regression - not feeding. He’s fast fast asleep. I’ve been trying to push the nipple in but that mouth is closed shut. I took some clothes off. Changed his nappy but he’s still asleep. Please help

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
